South Africa's torture is over, it's been an absolutely miserable experience for them. I don't know what the captain was doing putting England in. They're dragging themselves off now. England have put them to the sword.

South Africa won't get 372, looking at the body language, I doubt they'll even get 72.

  3. Eng 371-7published at 50 overs

England fall short of their record total but that is a remarkable effort.

119 for Tammy Beaumont, 65 for Emma Lamb, 51 for Sophia Dunkley, 63 for Heather Knight and a rapid 33 from Danni Wyatt.

A word too for Ayabonga Khaka, who's bowled a brilliant final over and finishes with 2-64, having toiled in the heat through 10 overs.

A chastening afternoon for South Africa. How many more times will we bring up that decision to bowl first?! Baffling.

They will need 372 to win.

Not one player has gone to say well bowled to poor old Khaka, that's terrible.

  5. wicket

    Dean lbw b Khaka 0 (Eng 367-7)

Pinned in front first ball and Charlie Dean doesn't even bother with a review.

In the final over South Africa have produced some good death bowling. Khaka bowls full and straight, Dean plays all around it and is given straight away.

South Africa barely even celebrate and to say the body language is deflated would be an understatement.

That's 43 run outs for Knight now, you've got to tell her. You're not playing anymore, she can't drop you!

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 49.1 overs

Knight run out (Chetty) 63 (Eng 367-6)

Make that run out 43 for Heather Knight! A selfless one this time, though, as she tries to scamper a quick single, taking on the keeper's arm but Trisha Chetty throws the stumps down.

An entertaining innings from the England skipper.

Beautifully played, that really was a perfect shot as Ismail missed her length. A ruthless drive from Heather Knight.

  10. Eng 367-5published at 49 overs

Four to finish the over as Knight plonks one over cover.

It tells you all you need to know about Sune Luus' decision to bowl first that Shabnim Ismail, South Africa's strike bowler, has only bowled seven overs.

England need 12 from the final over to beat their record total.

I can't remember a series in last 10 years where we have seen so many fifties. That is credit to England because normally when someone fails, you want some else to step up. They've all stepped up.

  12. Eng 363-5published at 48.4 overs

Heather Knight shuffles across her stumps and steers Shabnim Ismail around the corner for four more.

She follows it with a slash over backward point for another.

    The record is in sight!

  13. Postpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 18 July 2022

England edge closer to their record ODI total of 378.

They've got this close thanks to some mighty hitting from Danni Wyatt, whose 33 from 13 balls really got the scorecard moving.

That is the 42nd run out that Heather Knight has been involved in in her career.

  16. 50 runs

50 for Heather Knightpublished at 48 overs

    Eng 353-5

The run out clearly hasn't bothered Heather Knight.

She clubs one over mid-wicket for four more before dabbing a single to long-on. She's raced to her half-century from just 44 balls.

There have been two bits of brilliant fielding from South Africa. The catch to get Danni Wyatt at square leg and that there to run out Amy Jones. The rest has been bang average.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 47.2 overs

Jones run out (Ismail) 9 (Eng 347-5)

Amy Jones has got to go! No dive, and her reach isn't quite long enough as she's run out by a good few inches.

A fine bit of work by Shabnim Ismail, running in quickly from short fine after Knight was hit on the pads. Jones is running to the keeper's end and Ismail doesn't miss.
