Here's the second wicket that England picked up...

  2. SA 31-2published at 6 overs

Laura Wolvaardt is a serious player.

She takes a step down the pitch to Sophie Ecclestone and just plants her back down the ground for a one-bounce four.

England's powerplay though. They've dominated so far.

What a perplexing and strange game it has already been. We thought it was crazy that they'd opened with Goodall and Luus at three - and so it has proven to be.

England spinner Sophie Ecclestone will bowl the final over of the powerplay.

She's the number one-ranked bowler in the world in this format.

Not the prettiest of shots from Wolvaardt, we've used to seeing those lovely cover drives. This was too straight from Sciver and leaves leg-side.

  6. SA 26-2published at 5 overs

A bit of fortune for Laura Wolvaardt as she miscues Nat Sciver over Heather Knight at extra cover. Bryony Smith does well to chase from mid-off and save a couple of runs.

A productive over for the tourists though as Wolvaardt whips away through square leg for four, before driving beautifully for a couple.

Why is she not opening the batting!?!

Here's how Katherine Brunt picked up the wicket of Lara Goodall...

England will be targeting Wolvaardt's stumps. They don't want to give her any width, she's very strong through the off-side.

Wolvaardt hits the ball so much cleaner, so much harder than Goodall or Luus. It makes no sense that she is coming in at four.

  10. SA 18-2published at 4 overs

Strangled appeal for lbw against Laura Wolvaardt but she's absolutely whacked the cover of it.

The ultra-talented right hander picks up her first boundary with a pull through mid-wicket. She didn't get all of it but the outfield is absolutely rapid. It flew away.

England's off-spinner Charlie Dean got her in all three ODIs, but she isn't part of the T20 squad at the moment.

Not the best bit of fielding from Sophie Ecclestone, who doesn't put in the best dive. Katherine Brunt is not happy and she's not the kind of bowler that you want to upset.

  12. SA 12-2published at 3 overs

    That's a nice shot.

Anneke Bosch waits on the delivery from Katherine Brunt and pushes through mid-on for her second boundary of the over.

The first came through mid-wicket before the wicket.

How her and Laura Wolvaardt - who we've still managed to see early because of the wickets - could be key for the tourists here.

Katherine Brunt has been sat on the side for the last two ODIs, welcome back to international cricket!

The off-cutter off the pitch, drags back in and Luus completely misses it.

Sune Luus' poor series over here in England continues, she's gone for a five-ball duck.

    Luus b Brunt 0 (SA 7-2)

A 100th international T20 wicket for Katherine Brunt!

It is the scrambled seam from Brunt and the ball cannons into the top of off stump. I think Sune Luus got a very fine edge on it, but a brilliant delivery from England's star bowler.

    She's still got it.

  16. South Africa's Kapp out of seriespublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 21 July 2022

All-rounder Marizanne Kapp is a big absentee from the South Africa line-up today and we've just had word from the tourists' camp.

Kapp has returned to South Africa for family reasons and will miss the remainder of the series.

Tumi Sekhukhune has also flown home because of a groin injury.

Cricket South Africa say an update on their Commonwealth Games squad will be communicated "in due course".

It doesn't make sense to me that Laura Wolvaardt is so far down the order.

  18. SA 2-1published at 2 overs

Brillant from Issy Wong too, conceding just a single from her maiden T20 international over.

She almost picks up a wicket too as a Sune Luus leading edge falls just short of Maia Bouchier at extra cover.

    Perfect start from the hosts.

Issy Wong is certainly going to enjoy her moment out there and she is not going to hold back with the ball.

Issy Wong, on debut, will open the bowling from the other end.

We've got 97 appearances at one end and none at the other. Don't you just love sport?
