Here is Deepti Sharma's controversial dismissal of Charlie Dean so you can make up your own mind.

Perfectly fine or against the spirit of the game? (which itself is something often the subject of debate)

Arvind: Why are we defending batters stepping out of their crease when bowlers get penalised for overstepping by a whisker? Would we have argued the same if the match was decided by a last ball no-ball?

Kym Osborne: What an absolutely shocking way to to end a game of cricket. Especially one going down to the wire. How do you explain that to the 1000s of kids and new fans in the ground?

  9. 'I'm thankful for the chance to play with Goswami'published at 18:37 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

More from Harmanpreet Kaur: "When we came here we wanted to do really well because this team has that much potential. Wherever we go, we can win the games.

"We just want to continue this type of cricket."

On her own form: "I'm just enjoying my time and being there for the team. If I'm there, the team is always in a positive mode. Today was unfortunate but otherwise I was just watching the ball and trying to score runs."

On Jhulan Goswami: "When I made my debut, she was a leader and in the circle before the game, I told her that when things were going well, everyone was supporting me but even in my rough times, she was the only one always supporting me.

"I know it was her last game but we'll always remember her, she's always with us and she's just a call away when we need her. I'm thankful we had the chance to play with her.

"She is someone who was always guiding me."

  10. 'It's part of the game - a win is a win'published at 18:33 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

Player of the series and India captain Harmanpreet Kaur: "This wicket was not easy to bat on but we were looking for 170 after losing early wickets. Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana did a decent job to get those runs on the board.

"After that we knew we had the pace and spin attack to take the wickets. It was a collective team effort. We never thought we were out of the game and that positive attitude brought us through."

On the last wicket: "I thought you would ask about the first nine wickets because they were not easy to take. It's part of the game. I don't think we've done something new. It's ICC rules.

"I think it shows awareness of what the batters are doing and I will back my players. I don't think she has done something which is not in the ICC rules. At the end of the day, a win is a win."

  11. 'Dean didn't look like getting out in any other way'published at 18:31 British Summer Time 24 September 2022

England captain Amy Jones: "Obviously not happy with the result. We bowled really well and just needed a bigger partnership through the middle with the bat.

"The last dismissal divides opinion. I'm not a fan but it is how India feel about it. It is in the rules and hopefully it doesn't take the shine off a good summer and good series."

On what she has learned from captaining the side: "Lots. It has been a massive learning experience. I've not got much experience in the 50-over format. I learned the hard way in the second ODI but it has been a great opportunity. The girls have been very supportive but looking forward to having Heather [Knight] back."

On the future of the team: "The average age is pretty low and not much experience so it has been a really good summer for unearthing new talent. We definitely have a squad with a bright future ahead of us."

On Charlie Dean's performance: "I think she was brilliant. She absorbed the pressure and knuckled down. She didn't look like getting out in any other way."

On departing coach Lisa Keightley: "She has been brilliant. What she has brought to the group we will remember and move forward with. She will be missed and I wish her all the best for the future."

Charlie Dean wasn't trying to gain an advantage. It's ridiculous.

For me, Harmanpreet Kaur has got to look at her side and think, 'is that how we want to win games of cricket?' Can she not withdraw that appeal?

It's taken the shine off Jhulan Goswami's big send off. She's doing the lap of honour but everyone else in the ground is just stunned at how it's finished.

Player of the match Renuka Singh Thakur, who took 4-29: "Whenever I go back, I talk to my coach about how I'm bowling. He always helps me, gives me confidence and talks about what I need to improve."

On bowling with Jhulan Goswami: "I was only three years old when she made her debut. Everyone gets inspired when she's around and her work ethic is brilliant."

On her own form: "I just concentrate on my basics. I was very excited to play at Lord's and trying to get on the Honours Board. Maybe next time."

The England fans that are left are booing and the India fans that are here don't seem to mind the manner in which they've won. They're standing and applauding their heroes because they've won the match.

I was waiting for India to win this game, for England to make a mistake and India to win it outright. Everyone would have been really happy for India, Goswami's last game. She's been an amazing player and done great things for women's cricket.

Now everyone is like, 'oh, now what?'
