  1. Next stop Old Traffordpublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Bears 82 all out v Hampshire 186-6

We now have Yorkshire and Hampshire through to Finals Day, but who will join them back here at Edgbaston?

Tomorow night, it's Lancashire v Essex. A repeat of the 2019 quarter-final. But this time, maybe crucially, it's actually in Manchester.

Not like three years ago, when another piece of poor fixture scheduling meant Old Trafford was needed to host an England Test match - and Lancs had to debunk to Chester-le-Street, where they lost to the eventual winners.

Lancs look likely to be weakened by the loss of their five called-up England T20 players - new white-ball skipper Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt, Matt Parkinson and Richard Gleeson. But they have plenty of unsung heroes in their squad, plus the power of overseas stars Tim David and captain Dane Vilas, so it is far from a foregone conclusion.

Then the following night it's the fourth and last quarter-final when Somerset host much-improved Derbyshire.

So we're still only halfway to Finals Day.

Hope you can join us again tomorrow night

  2. England up against itpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

With this game having finished more than six overs early, feel free to follow England's progress against India in the first T20 International.

Although I must warn you, it's not going too well. You can follow the action here.

  3. Record-breaking Hawkspublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Bears 82 all out v Hampshire 186-6

An outstanding all-round display from Hampshire as they absolutely thrash the North Group winners Birmingham Bears.

All boxes ticked. 61 from Ben McDermott at the top of the order to set up a strong total. 4-18 from James Fuller and 3-4 from Nathan Ellis. Four good catches in the outfield from Joe Weatherley

They reach Finals Day for a record ninth time and will return to Edgbaston a week on Saturday (16 July).

Although Lancashire could equal that if they beat Essex in the next quarter-final at Old Trafford tomorrow.

    Bears 82 all out v Hampshire 186-6

    All over at Edgbaston!

A massive 104-run victory for Hampshire Hawks as last man Danny Briggs is caught behind.

The Bears' second worst defeat in T20 cricket.

  5. wicket

WICKET Miles b Ellis 3published at 13.1 overs

    Bears 82-9 (Target 187)

    You little ripper!!

The ideal ball to a tailender - a yorker and Nathan Ellis cleans up Craig Miles.

  6. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Bears 82-8 (Target 187)

James Fuller ends a superb evening with the ball, giving up only three from his final over.

He ends with 4-17 and has probably secured the Hawks' place in Finals Day.

    Postpublished at 12 overs

    Bears 79-8 (Target 187)

Nobody has told Olly Stone this is a lost cause.

He launches two big sixes in three balls off Mason Crane. The fact it has taken 12 overs to bag a maximum underlines the Bears' predicament.

  8. wicket

WICKET Lintott lbw b Crane 2published at 11.2 overs

    Bears 66-8 (Target 187)

Sweet Caroline blares round Edgbaston, but this is not going to be a Birmingham party this evening.

And now Mason Crane gets in on the act!

Jake Lintott goes for a big swing across the line, misses and the finger goes up.

    The end is nigh....

  9. wicket

WICKET Mousley c Weatherley b Fullerpublished at 10.3 overs

    Bears 64-7 (Target 187)

Four wickets for James Fuller! Four catches for Joe Weatherley!

Dan Mousley comes down the crease, but can't get over the bounce and it loops up into the covers and we've seen Weatherley's safe hands before.

    The Bears look toast here.

  10. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Bears 62-6 (Target 187)

After losing the first four games in the competition, Hampshire have been up against it from the start.

But to use a term from the NFL, they have been playing knockout cricket for weeks and it is paying dividends.

Leg spinner Mason Crane is thrown the ball and gives up only four singles and a leg bye.

  11. wicket

WICKET Brathwaite c Weatherley b Fuller 4published at 9 overs

    Bears 57-6 (Target 187)

    That could be the game!

Bears captain Carlos Brathwaite clubs his first ball from James Fuller for four, but can't resist the hook shot off his second, but he doesn't get all of it.

The ball flies into the safe hands of Joe Weatherley at deep midwicket and the West Indian departs with Edgbaston almost completely silent.

  12. wicket

WICKET Benjamin c Crane b Fuller 10published at 8.4 overs

    Bears 53-5 (Target 187)

After eight overs, Hampshire were 83-0 so the difference is monumental in T20 terms. And they now have a fifth wicket!

A slower ball from James Fuller, but Chris Benjamin does not pick it and drags it straight to Mason Crane at mid-on.

  13. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Bears 50-4 (Target 187)

Someone is going to have to go big for the Bears.

Maybe it will be Chris Benjamin as he executes a terrific reverse sweep for four.

When Dan Mousley tries to do the same, he almost loses his leg stump as Liam Dawson wheels through his second over.

The Bears need 138 from 12 overs.

  14. Postpublished at 7 overs

    Bears 41-4 (Target 187)

Hampshire are good at defending, but I'm not sure they thought they would have the Bears four down so early in the innings.

Only four off James Fuller's over. Skipper James Vince working the bowling changes perfectly.

  15. wicket

WICKET Hose b Fuller 16published at 6.3 overs

    Bears 40-4 (Target 187)

Hampshire were 61-0 after their powerplay. The Bears are 37-3. A huge difference.

James Fuller into the attack and what a sight. Middle stump flies out of the ground and Adam Hose has gone!

    Dreamland for the Hawks!

  16. Postpublished at 6 overs

    Bears 37-3 (Target 187)

Liam Dawson's left-arm spin is introduced for the last over of fielding restrictions.

Adam Hose only needs two balls to find the fence with most of the field inside the circle.

But Dawson uses his experience to only give up three singles from the last four balls.

  17. Postpublished at 5 overs

    Bears 30-3 (Target 187)

Only six from Brad Wheal's second over. But two big scalps already for him.

They have the Bears in a spot of trouble here - they now need more than 10 an over with only seven wickets in hand.

  18. wicket

WICKET Hain c Weatherley b Wheal 11published at 4.4 overs

    Bears 28-3 (Target 187)

Cracking shot from Sam Hain to start Brad Wheal's new over with a boundary.

But Wheal wins when Hain tries to go big into the onside and he is taken close to the fence by Joe Weatherley. A second catch for him.

    Great start for the Hawks.

  19. Postpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Bears 22-2 (Target 187)

Chris Wood swaps ends and he begins with a short ball, which is called a no ball on height - harsh.

And the next ball is dispatched for four by Adam Hose.

They are forced into a quick single and Sam Hain is fortunate to see a throw at the stumps just miss as he was well short.

  20. Postpublished at 3 overs

    Bears 12-2 (Target 187)

What an over from Brad Wheal. Adam Hose pinches a single from the last ball.

Hampshire on the prowl for wickets here. They sense their chance.
