  2. 'I have to peak at the right time'published at 19:24 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

England bowler Mark Wood, speaking on Sky Sports: "It has been a long time. I felt pretty tired at the end with the intensity of international cricket but I will be good to go again.

"It was loud and the support in general has been really good. They are really knowledgeable about cricket and very supportive.

"Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan played really well last time so it was good to get them early doors.

"I felt pretty good leading into the game. I've had lots of time training and in the gym but nothing beats playing a game.

"The challenge now is to back it up. I have a down day tomorrow where I'll rest and get ready for the next game. What's important is to not go too hard now and mean I'm not ready for the World Cup. I have to peak at the right time.

"There's a good feeling about the dressing room. We weren't too critical after the last defeat we just looked at what we could do better."

  3. 'Serious, serious pace'published at 19:21 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

Moeen Ali on Mark Wood: "That really was quick. He bowled serious, serious pace. It's great to have him back, he's a massive part of our team. In the World Cup we need him firing like that."

  4. 'Brook showing he is a special talent'published at 19:18 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

England captain Moeen Ali: "I felt that was a brilliant win. We were ruthless tonight, with the bat in particular.

"That partnership was outstanding; two really good players and Brook is showing how special a talent he can potentially be. He looks an amazing player. Hopefully he grows and becomes one of those top, top players. With the ball as well, we were outstanding.

"Guys have all got a bit of experience from the PSL, I'm sure that helped and someone like Will Jacks, the way he played tonight, the intent he showed, he really took it to the bowlers and gave us a really good start.

"The future is amazing for England cricket with the players we've got coming through. There are still some really good players who are not here and guys on the bench. It's great for us."

  5. 'Early wickets put pressure on us'published at 19:17 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

Pakistan captain Babar Azam: "We tried to get a good start again today but the early wickets put pressure on us.

"In situations like this we try and use the best bowlers but today we were just not up to the mark and England bowled really well today. We'll have a look at our performance before the next match.

"I'm confident about Shan. His confidence and the way he showed himself and executed his plan was really good and I hope he continues to play like this."

  6. 'Nice to have a match-winning performance'published at 19:14 British Summer Time 23 September 2022

Player of the match, England's Harry Brook: "It was very nice to get out there and have a match-winning performance tonight.

"It was quite similar to the other night. Every pitch has been quite similar so it was just playing through the line and trying to get on the front foot as much as possible really; having a solid game plan and sticking to it.

"I was just trying to get Ben Duckett on strike against the spin, he's so good at sweeping it's ridiculous. He seems to hit the gap every time. It worked quite well."

On the bowling front, Reece Topley was excellent on his return to the side and Adil Rashid took another couple of wickets, but the undoubted star of the show was Mark Wood.

The fast bowler was playing his first game since undergoing surgery in July but you wouldn't have known. He clocked 97.1mph during his first two-over burst and ended with figures of 3-25.

Keep him fit and firing and England's chances at the T20 World Cup improve markedly.

At 82-3 in the ninth over, England's innings could have gone either way. Thanks to Harry Brook and Ben Duckett it went emphatically in one direction.

The pair put on 139 in 11.3 overs to power England to 221-3. Brook made 81 not out from 35 balls and has surely nailed down his place in the XI for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Duckett - 70 not out from 42 balls - is ready and waiting should any of the batters pick up an injury before the tournament.

An absolutely outstanding performance from having lost the game yesterday by 10 wickets to winning today.

The partnership between Duckett and Brook, that was really high quality.

England win by 63 runs and take 2-1 series leadpublished at 20 overs

    Pak 158-8

A boundary ends the innings as Hasnain clobbers the ball through the covers. England won't mind that, though. It has been a clinical performance from the tourists and they move into a 2-1 series lead.

The defeat the previous night has been put behind them quickly. That is a very comprehensive victory.

Harry Brook and Ben Duckett were the stars with the bat - while Will Jacks also impressed on debut - and then Mark Wood and Reece Topley showed what a difference they make to the bowling attack. Job done for England. Three games down, four to go.

Shan Masood has played really well. Saqlain Mushtaq will be saying to him tonight that he played with a really calm head.

  13. Pak 149-8published at 19 overs

A brilliant yorker to finish from Mark Wood but Mohammad Hasnain does just enough, jamming the bat down in the nick of time.

Wood ends with figures of 3-25 from his four overs. A very impressive return.

Another one down. Too quick again from Mark Wood.

Haris Rauf tries to launch a back of a length ball away but the ball goes straight up. Sam Curran gets underneath it and pouches the catch.

I reckon England might edge this one, you know...

Qadir run out (Moeen) 0 (Pak 143-7)

Gone. Usman Qadir pushed the ball to Moeen Ali at mid-off but perhaps keen to get off strike with Mark Wood bowling, he set off anyway.

Moeen swooped and threw down the stumps. The replays confirm that Qadir was well short of his ground.

England might have another one. A run out after good work from Moeen Ali. Usman Qadir looked well short.

  20. wicket

    Nawaz c Brook b Rashid 19 (Pak 142-6)

Adil Rashid ends with spell with a wicket. Mohammad Nawaz decides that he fancies going down town, too, but is deceived by a dipping googly from Rashid.

The ball goes high but there's no real distance and Harry Brook comes in from long off to take another regulation catch.
