It's closer than it looked - umpire's call on impact - but that's not enough for England to overturn the lbw decision against Masood.
They keep the review, however.

A little bit of turn but some definite bounce.
Masood tries that reverse again but misses.
Jack Leach likes this...
Azhar may look a little edgy but Shan Masood, who first thwacks Leach for four and then reverse-sweeps for three, has made a very tidy start.

It's a big match for Azhar. He's looking a bit skittish out there.
Mark Wood's England song is blaring out of the trumpet as Azhar Ali blocks another short one. He is yet to score from his 10 balls.
I was still at school in August 2004, the month of Rehan Ahmed's birth. I wonder if any of you were doing anything more interesting - or something which, combined with Ahmed's debut, has made you feel particularly old.

Masood is playing like Imam. He's not afraid to use his feet. Back in Multan and Rawalpindi when Imam kept coming down the pitch, Stokes would leave area of the pitch for a while.
This time Stokes has given the protection of the deep mid wicket after a few balls. Good pro active batting by Masood.
Masood 17, Azhar 0
If that doesn't already make you feel old, Rehan Ahmed was born after Euro 2004 - the summer of Wayne Rooney's metatarsal.

The day Rehan Ahmed was born, Anderson was playing in his 10th Test match.
Ollie Robinson wandered off the field at the end of that last over, having bowled three overs.
We'll keep an eye on that.
A remarkable stat.
Mark Wood charges in with all of his usual enthusiasm in the watery Karachi sunshine, albeit with a slightly furrowed brow.
The final ball is an attempted bouncer which doesn't really get any higher than Azhar Ali's ribs.
Alex Hartley
Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special
I heard an extraordinary stat this morning. Jimmy Anderson has taken more international wickets than Rehan Ahmed has lived in weeks.
It's time for a bit of Mark Wood...
Jack Leach shares a fist bump with Azhar Ali, his former Somerset team-mate, as the ex-Pakistan captain emerges from the dressing room.
This will be Azhar's final Test before retirement.
It's a wicket-maiden for Leach.
Shafique lbw b Leach 8 (Pak 18-1)
Alex Hartley would make a good umpire. England have a very nice early breakthrough. The pitch has looked flat but that one has just skidded on from Leach to hit Shafique on the pad.
England are on their way.

Umpire's call. Leg stump I reckon.
But is this a first wicket for England?!
Up goes the finger after Jack Leach hits Abdullah Shafique on the pad.
The opener reviews.
News from Brisbane...
David Warner has been caught off Kagiso Rabada off the first ball of Australia's reply against South Africa.
Robinson fields off his own bowling with a slightly grumpy kick of the boot. Could be a long day.

We were talking about how unusual it is to have a spinner opening the bowling. For England the last time was in 1921.
Andy Zaltzman tells us this is the first time an England spinner has opened the bowling in the first innings of a Test for over 100 years.
There's very little turn for Leach but Ben Foakes, back behind the stumps for England, gives him plenty of encouragement.
