    Singles. And more singles.

If they could get a move on though, that'd be helpful. I really need to start my Christmas shopping.

How frustrating is it for England? If Buttler had had one of those short catchers in at slip, it could have been an easy catch.

    Oh, luck for Alex Carey.

He swings and gets an edge just past Buttler for four. David Willey shakes his head but there's nothing anyone could do about that.

And he follows it with another streaky drive that just flashes past cover for four more.

    Who'd be a bowler?

Carey is another local boy and has played a lot of cricket here. He's one of the more elegant players in the Australia team and that shot was lovely to look at.

  8. Aus 222-4published at 34 overs

    Target 288

Alex Carey joins the party with a crunching drive past point.

It's just a matter of time now, despite England's best efforts.

  9. Aus 216-3published at 33 overs

    Target 288

David Willey is giving it everything but there's just no getting past Steve Smith at the moment.

Australia are just ticking it over, not taking any risks.

I think the Adelaide Oval is alright. Henry Moeran says it's his favourite in Australia. I think it's 6/10.

I prefer the little quaint grounds in New Zealand and I like the new one in Perth. It's got that stadium, event feel.

Beautifully driven by Steve Smith. Glorious straight drive.

  12. Aus 214-3published at 32 overs

A picture-perfect drive straight down the ground from Steve Smith off Luke Wood, who has his hands on his knees and grimaces as if to say, "How do I bowl to him?"

Many a bowler has thought that, Luke. Don't sweat it.

The worm shows Australia are 50 runs ahead of England. Australia are 214 for 3 after 32 overs. At the same stage England were 164 for 6.

  14. Aus 208-3published at 31 overs

    Target 288

Wicketkeeper Alex Carey is the new batter. He's struck on the pad and Willey appeals hopefully, but he's middled it.

Just 80 runs to go for Australia now, from 19 overs. It should be a walk in the park.

Labuschagne always finds strange ways to get out.

It's a knuckle ball from David Willey, it doesn't get up as much as it wanted and Labuschagne is playing so far away from his body that he nicks it. Brilliant catch from Buttler.

It's one that he'll look at the replay and say, 'ooh, not a great shot.'

    Definitely no run there, Marnus...

David Willey continues to plug away and draws the edge from Labuschagne, who edges behind to Jos Buttler who takes a brilliant catch, diving to his right and swooping the ball just centimetres off the ground.

I'm in agreement there. I have to keep reminding myself that England won a World Cup just a few days ago as I set myself up with my third coffee of the morning for another hour of "no runs".

Tattz: I keep finding myself on the cusp of being mildly annoyed by this score - but then the image of those two sweet World Cups that we hold keeps coming back to my mind.

Just one ball faced by Marnus Labuschagne and we get his characteristic wail of "no run".

When it's been defended straight back to the bowler.

I'm not sure how long I can do this for.

Brilliant knock from David Warner and that partnership between he and Travis Head will offer real encouragement to Australia ahead of the 50-over World Cup next year.
