This could be a big day for Lauren Bell.

The conditions are in her favour, and she gets a lot of natural in-swing in the same way that Renuka Thakur does.

Bell has struggled with her line in the past but if she can get it under control, she will have a big part to play. Head coach Jon Lewis is having a long chat with her on the outfield as England go through their warm-ups.

Thanks, Mike. England looked in a bit of trouble but showed their batting depth to recover and finish with something to defend.

Some superb bowling from Renuka Singh Thakur at the start of England's innings, and at the death too.

Have England got enough runs on the board, though? About par according to Georgia Elwiss, and hard to disagree. What do you think? Let us know via #bbccricket

    We're nicely poised here.

We've got an interesting chase in store for India and I'll leave you in the hands of Timothy Abraham to take you through it...

  5. 'I think we can chase it'published at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2023

India's Shikha Pandey: "I was waiting to get my opportunity. I was very happy to contribute. Renuka Singh Thakur had a great spell. I thought the wicket was a fresh one and had good bounce.

"Thakur was brilliant it was a dream to watch her bowl. It's her first five wicket haul. I think we can chase it, we back ourselves and I think it will be a fun match to watch."

England will be absolutely delighted with that recovery, given that they were 29-3 and 80-4.

It will have to be a very good chase for India but the pitch is playing well.

They look very confident and full of smiles as they walk off, with everyone taking it in turn to shake Renuka Thakur's hand after a phenomenal spell.

That's exactly what England would have wanted from the last ball.

  9. Eng 151-7published at 20 overs

    Hat-trick ball for Thakur...

It's full, new batter Sarah Glenn jams her bat down, it's past her... and through everybody! It runs through to the boundary for four byes. Thakur can only laugh, it's been a fantastic innings for her as she finishes with figures of 5-15.

England pass 150 with the final ball of their innings. It's been a solid rebuild from them.

No time for Sciver-Brunt to get her eye in. She tries to club Thakur straight away but simply picks out Yadav at mid-wicket.

    A first five-for in T20Is for Thakur!

  17. 6 runs

    Eng 136-5published at 18.4 overs

    Big six from Sophie Ecclestone!

It all looked rather becalmed for the first three deliveries of Deepti's over, as England batters worked the singles, but Ecclestone breaks the calm with a massive heave to mid-wicket.

It has been pleasing to see that England haven't backed away despite being in several tricky positions, they've stayed true to their attacking approach that we've heard so much about.

But it's got to be said that all the dismissals, perhaps excluding Sophia Dunkley, have been tame and avoidable.
