Rehan Ahmed has a maiden ODI wicket with the last ball of his spell!

It's a bit of a drag-down in truth but the googly turns a long way back into Mehidy and in trying to keep it off his pads, the right-hander chips it back to Ahmed.

A low catch but a simple one and a nice way for Rehan Ahmed to finish his spell on debut. He's all smiles.

  2. Ban 212-6published at 44 overs

Mehidy Hasan is in at number eight for Bangladesh and can't get off the mark from the last two balls of the over.

A good return to the attack for Woakes, three singles and a wicket from the over.

  3. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 43.4 overs

    Afif c Moeen b Woakes 15 (Ban 212-6)

    Slapped to extra cover!

It's a slower ball from Chris Woakes and Afif Hossain smashes it but straight to Moeen Ali.

A sharp catch and England continue to chip away at Bangladesh.

Fifty for Shakib Al Hasan - his 52nd in ODIs and it comes from just 55 balls.

A very important knock for Bangladesh as they try to post a competitive total.

You'd imagine, he'll look to really kick on over the next few overs.

Rehan Ahmed's bowling: 19% full, 78% good length and 4% short. 9 overs, 0 maidens, went for 55 runs, took 0 wickets with an economy of 6.11.Image source, BBC Sport

Another tidy over for England as Rehan Ahmed, dealing exclusively in googlies to the two left-handers, keeps Bangladesh to five singles from the over.

  6. Ban 204-5published at 42 overs

Both Afif and Shakib look determined to back away and give themselves room to play with the spin and hit Moeen Ali through the off side.

Neither are able to find the boundary, though. Five from the over. England will take that at this stage of the innings.

  7. Ban 199-5published at 41 overs

Frustration for Ahmed as he drops short with his last ball and is cut away nicely by Afif. Four runs.

It comes after a crunching shot from Shakib earlier in the over, timing the ball superbly at wide mid-off to the boundary.

  8. Ban 190-5published at 40 overs

Moeen Ali's bowling: 17% full, 83% good length and 0% short. 8 overs, 0 maidens, went for 44 runs, took 0 wickets with an economy of 5.50.Image source, BBC Sport

Economical stuff from Moeen Ali as he returns to the attack.

Just the three singles from it.

With 10 overs to go, what should Bangladesh be targeting? 260? 275? More?

  9. Ban 187-5published at 39 overs

    Afif 6, Shakib 36

Rehan Ahmed returns after after straying leg side and being swept for four by Afif early in the over, he comes close to a first ODI wicket a few balls later.

Shakib tries to hit up and over mid-off, the ball hangs in the air but has just enough distance to evade Jofra Archer as he ran back.

  10. Ban 179-5published at 38 overs

After being tied down for the first three balls, nearly chipping to point and risking a run out, Shakib goes on the attack.

He manages to muscle the first of two boundaries just over mid-on but thumping a long half-volley back past Curran next ball.

    Much-needed runs for Bangladesh.

Shakib takes a single from the first ball and then it is time for Rashid to get to work on Afif.

Leg-break, googly, googly, quicker ball, flighted delivery. No wicket this time but Rashid is really keeping the left-hander guessing.

  12. Ban 170-5published at 36 overs

Sam Curran returns to the attack with England in a position where they might hope to wrap the Bangladesh innings up ahead of time.

Shakib is the major obstacle to that and takes two from each of the first two balls in the over, the first through leg, the next into the off side.

A leg bye completes the scoring for the over.

  13. Ban 165-5published at 35 overs

Afif Hossain is the new man for Bangladesh and is off the mark with a single.

Having built such a good platform, the home side are in danger of coming up short again.

As for England, they can only hope that Adil Rashid decides to keep playing into his 50s, 60s - whatever it is, just keep him going!

    Mahmudullah b Rashid 8 (Ban 163-5)

Adil Rashid celebrates the wicket of MahmudullahImage source, Reuters

    Rashid has the last laugh.

It's the one-two punch from the leggie again. Another tempter, flighted up outside off followed by a quicker one.

The ball just skids on and, with Mahmudullah neither forward nor back, it goes through the gate and clatters into middle stump.

  15. 6 runs

    Ban 163-4published at 34.2 overs

Mahmudullah likes to play his shots and he has got all of that one.

Down the track to Rashid, mid-on and mid-off are up but that's irrelevant when you time it as cleanly as this. It goes a long way back at long-on.

  16. Ban 156-4published at 34 overs

Jofra Archer's bowling: 2% full, 26% good length and 71% short. 7 overs, 1 maidens, went for 28 runs, took 0 wickets with an economy of 4.00.Image source, BBC Sport

Good again from Archer and another well-directed bouncer. This time Mahmudullah has to sway clear of it at the last moment.

Full delivery to finish and an inside edge back onto the boot from the Bangladesh batter.

  17. Postpublished at 08:27 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2023

We have just seen a replay that shows Shakib was back comfortably.

I know there are procedures that the third umpire has to follow but it might have saved time to show that bit first...

  18. Not outpublished at 33 overs

    Ban 153-4

    Shakib survives.

Always exciting to get UltraEdge out for a run out decision but it comes up with nothing, a flatline so we don't even get to see if the batter actually made it back.

  19. Umpire reviewpublished at 33 overs

    Ban 153-4

    Have England nabbed another one?

There is a review for run out as Mahmuddulah drills the ball back at Rashid and onto the stumps at the non-striker's end.

Two questions: did Rashid get a boot on it? And if he did, was Shakib back in time?

    Mushfiqur b Rashid 70 (Ban 153-4)

Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim is bowled by England's Adil RashidImage source, Reuters

Bowled 'im! Mushfiqur Rahim is perfectly set up by Adil Rashid.

A slow, wide, loopy leg break is followed up by a slightly quicker googly and Mushfiqur is beaten all ends up on the sweep.

A good knock from Mushfiqur but Rashid has outthought him there. Time for drinks.
