    Craig Overton bang on the money, drawing Ricardo Vasconcelos into a forward defensive but seeing the ball fizz past the edge on its way through to the keeper.

    The Northants man gets his revenge a couple of balls later, whipping a looser inswinger away through the leg side for four. Two lefties up-top for the visitors and Somerset are taking their time getting their lines right.

    You see many of the colours of the rainbow on the county circuit but I think the Taunton track this morning could best be described as a lime green.

    Stuart Broad has gone for 20 runs off his first four overs opening the bowling for Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

    Broad did find the edge of Josh Bohannon's bat in his most recent over, but it dropped short of Matthew Montgomery at slip.

    Wonder if Steve Smith - Robinson's team-mate in this game - is picking up any pointers ahead of the Ashes series?

    Jake Libby, who flicked a six over long leg from the bowling of Sean Hunt, is 12 not out and has been joined by Adam Hose.

    Two fours in an over for Nick Browne off Kemar Roach - the first punched away off the back foot and the second, a wayward delivery flicked away effortlessly through the leg-side. Both he and fellow leftie Alastair Cook are nine not out.

    That's the first ball Felix Organ has seen from Chris Rushworth this morning and he's tried a flamboyant leave.

    Unfortunately for the opener Rushworth gets one to nip back a long way and uproots his off-stump as he shoulders arms.

    Nick Gubbins joins Fletcha Middleton in the middle. Stifling stuff from the visitors in the opening seven overs.

    Yorkshire have really squeezed Glamorgan in the opening overs and Ben Coad has removed both openers without scoring inside five overs.

    Sean Abbott is dishing up a fair number of extras for Essex - four leg-byes and four byes so far, but there is a boundary off the bat as Alastair Cook cover drives superbly. Class is permanent, as they say.

    Ricardo Vasconcelos clips Craig Overton pleasantly through mid-wicket to the ropes to register the first boundary of the morning.

    Hassan Azad guides Peter Siddle away off his hips to the fence for another four to begin the next over and the Aussie is out of luck soon after as Ricardo Vasconcelos tries to pull his bat out of the way for a leave, only to glance the ball off an inside edge and flash the ball past his own stumps and away to fine leg for four.

    A lively first four overs, to say the least...

  12. Lancashire start well without captain Jennings

    Early days at Trent Bridge but Lancashire appear to be making light of the absence of in-form captain Keaton Jennings.

    The England Test batter, who began today as the leading run-scorer in Division One, is out with a hamstring injury so Dane Vilas is leading the team at Trent Bridge.

    Opening pair Luke Wells and George Balderson have scored 20 runs off the first three overs, batting on a pitch which has more than a tinge of green to it.

    We are off and running under slightly overcast skies after promising morning sunshine in Worcester.

    And already Sussex have a wicket. England‘s Ollie Robinson finds Ed Pollock‘s edge first ball. It went almost to the third man boundary for an all-run four. And then, when he tried it again from the third ball, Tom Clark successfully pouched it at third slip.

    Next to him, stood at second slip, meanwhile, is the Sussex number 49, latest signing Steve Smith.

    Alastair Cook didn't see much of the bowling in the first two overs at Chelmsford - just a single delivery, in fact. But he is under way now with a single off Kemar Roach.

    A testing first few overs from Chris Woakes and Chris Rushworth at the Ageas.

    Fletcha Middleton and Felix Organ are opening up after the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first, but the visitors start with three straight maiden overs.

    An early appeal from Craig Overton after rapping Hassan Azad on the pads... nothing doing, but three balls later he finds the edge of Azad's bat.

    The ball carries to Tom Kohler-Cadmore at first slip, it's low but straight at him, but he's shelled it...

    Groans all around. It was all very casual. His knees just didn't bend enough. A real let-off for the visitors.

    David Lloyd tries to smear a wider ball through the covers and succeeds in only edging behind to the returning Jonny Bairstow.
