It's extraordinary. That's a classic top of off delivery that all bowlers strive for and Joe Root his that for six. It takes courage to execute that shot.
Joe Root, you are ridiculous.
You guessed it - the reverse scoop for six again. Off Pat Cummins! How?!
A short but sweet first innings back for Moeen Ali.
He's got a pretty big job to do with the ball though, especially now that Nathan Lyon's taken four on day one.
Nighthawk alert!
Stuart Broad is here.

It's only the second time since the second World War that there have been two stumpings in the first innings of an Ashes test.
Moeen st Carey b Lyon 18 (Eng 323-7)
Lyon has four!
This is more of a run out than a stumping, as Moeen Ali was practically halfway down the wicket trying to hit it into the car park.
It was fun while it lasted, but that one was probably a bit silly.

Australia have had a day where they've seen plenty of boundaries against them but they've picked up some key wickets. They could bowl England out tonight and if they do that, they'll be delighted.

Brian Charles Ali...
Moeen, meet Bazball.
He crunches four through the covers before pulling Pat Cummins for six!
The fun never stops.

I think we need 400 plus on this wicket so we need a good innings from Moeen. I have seen lots of unjustified criticism of him so nothing would be more pleasing than for him to shut those people up with a fifty, then perhaps a cameo from Broady. Job far from done at this point.

Root 80, Moeen 7
Welcome back to Test cricket, Mo!
A shuffle down the pitch to Nathan Lyon, and swiped for four.
But you never know, he could be out next ball. Happy?
A Joe Root single brings England's 300.
The run rate is superb, but how much of a concern is that wickets column?
Still, there is no disputing the entertainment. Every time England seem to be taking the game away, Australia strike at the crucial time.
It has been utterly gripping from start to finish.

He's an athlete, he'll be disappointed with that. I think the pace off the bat, he he doesn't quite get that.
Oh!
Moeen chips one very innocuously up in the air of Pat Cummins, who sticks out a hand in his follow-through and can't cling on.
A very tough chance, but he got a hand to it.
Another life given.
Would you all prefer it if I just followed every boundary with, "but you never know, he could get out next ball"?

Is it just me or had there been lots of "commentators curse" in today's text commentary?
Roy
Is now a good time to remind everyone of the phenomenon that is 'commentators curse'?

Lyon's held an end for Australia, he's done a really good job for his team and his captain.
From what we've seen today, I'd say 350 is quite a bit below par.
Now then.
Here's Moeen Ali's first outing in the McCullum and Stokes era... and he's off the mark first ball with an easy single.
Fair play to Nathan Lyon. He's been attacked, but he's picked up three wickets on an absolute road.
Quality bowler.

He'll be disappointed he didn't hit that. A much needed wicket for Australia.
