Stuart Broad is someone who delivers big moments in Test matches on a consistent basis. Not many people have that kind of ability. It's a question mark over a lot of players, can you go out and win a Test when it matters? As a player you are remembered for moments you win games of cricket and his list of those is phenomenal.

England are doing their slip practise with four men - Joe Root, Zak Crawley, Harry Brook and Ollie Pope - in the cordon. A sign of things to come?

The overheads are not quite as juicy as England hope, so I'd rather be on the batting side at the moment. Australia have enough time to just play simple critic - they don't have to be overly aggressive.

huwjc: I’ve never understood the reason for the delay between deciding the weather is fine to play and actually getting out & playing. Surely everyone’s ready to go - why the 45 minute wait?

Letting the outfield dry out would be my guess.

The players have emerged for some football warm-ups.

The sun has just peaked out. That's good news for our prospects of play. It's bad for Jimmy Anderson's hopes of hooping it around corners.

It is warming up which from an England perspective is a good thing. A bit of humidity should help the ball swing around, although the ball is 30-odd overs old.

Umpires Ahsan Raza and Marais Erasmus are making their way onto the outfield for a pitch inspection.

There's some blue skies breaking through the grey clouds overhead. Though I think England will want those clouds to remain.

Some of the Australia players are warming up on the outfield. A few England players are starting to emerge too.

As soon as we hear confirmation of a start time we will let you know.
