There was a big cheer from the crowd as the central hover cover on the pitch goes off the ground. We should know shortly exactly when play will start, but it's not long away.

Travis Head when he comes out to bat reminds me a bit Adam Gilchrist in the way he goes out there and attempts to strike the ball. A 40-minute or hour of him batting could have a massive sway on how this Test match goes.

All the big covers have been removed now, with just the hover cover left protecting the wicket.

A couple of supersoppers are still circling the outfield but it looks in decent condition.

The umpires are due out in a few minutes to take a look and hopefully give us a start time.

James Anderson on how weather conditions might help England: "I think the lights might be on if we start in these conditions We saw when Australia bowled with the lights on it can do a bit. We hope with it being day five the pitch will detoriate a little bit more. It will be a tough ask for the seamers. We'll be hunting wickets. Ben and Brendon want us to not worry about the scoreboard just be hunting for wickets."

We've had umpires on the field for the first time. There was a bit of prodding of the ground by Marais Erasmus.

The word is there's a bit of surface water over by the Hollies Stand which will take a bit of time to sort.

Joe Root playing a ramp shotImage source, Getty Images

More from James Anderson on the impact of Joe Root's reverse ramp shot first ball on day four: "He did mention it before we went out but we weren't sure he would do it. It gave the dressing room confidence and lightened the mood. It also sent a message to the opposition that we would be on the font foot. That's what we have done for 12 months now and it's great to see.

"I took inspiration from Joe so I reverse swept my first ball. Even Stuart Broad's been asking me for tips on how reverse sweep! Strange he's chosen a number 11 rather than the guys who have 10,000 Test runs.

"It's great to be around this group because it's so much fun. We are trying different things in training and doing it out to he middle in matches. We are trying to be aggressive and take the game to the opposition. Hopefully we can keep doing it today."

James Anderson has just spoken to BBC Sport's Alison Mitchell.

On how England will approach today: "I think we will still set attacking fields. Even yesterday the field was up. We want those catchers in play if the chance comes. What we are asked to do is entertain and send people home happy, and we have done that for four days. If we don't do that so be it.

"Nobody will be more disappointed if we don't win. The process has not been worrying about the outcome. We are trying to do something special. We have made the running for four days and in control. We need seven wickets to win a Test match and if it doesn't come off it doesn't. Jack Leach said recently there might be teams better than us but nobody braver."

On Moeen Ali's finger injury: "I think he's sore but he'll bowl definitely. We have a 10-day break for it to recover and heal. We need a push from him to go through the pain barrier. We do need him and it is turning out there. I think he's sore but should be able to bowl."
