Gareth Roderick completes the ninth first-class century of his career with a beautifully guided four down to the third man boundary.

Dropped on 33 last night by wicketkeeper Brooke Guest, it is his third ton for Worcestershire. But his first since being promoted to opener, at the suggestion of skipper Brett D‘Oliveira two games ago.

At the other end of the scale, Ed Pollock, the man he replaced as opener, still has not scored since lunch. 4 in 68 balls!!!

A Bazballer who was a Bazballer before Bazball was invented. But clearly now a man transformed in pursuit of those five points for a draw.

Sussex 95-4, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

Now then. Tom Clark is pinned on his crease and there's no debate about this one. He's played well for his 42 but James Coles now joins Nathan Mcandrew who is on a not-particularly speedy 11.

Sussex 94-3, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

James Harris has got one to jag back from near enough Newport to cut Tom Clark almost in half at Sophia Gardens, but the ball flies over middle and leg. Collective intake of breath all round.

Weather radar not looking too clever, I regret to tell you, as the asking rate for Sussex nudges ever closer to five an over.

    Leicestershire 422 & 111-4 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

There were 67 overs left when the afternoon session began and Leicestershire were three down.

The talk at lunch was about how a big partnership could see the game drift towards a draw.

At that point Colin Ackermann and Peter Handscomb had put on 62 runs for the Foxes' fourth wicket, and we've seen some big middle order partnerships in this match.

But just after the resumption of play Ackermann was out, trying to drive a ball from Matthew Potts and was caught behind on 39 to end the partnership on 74.

The consensus from the locals is Leicestershire have a long tail.

However, the track is still fairly flat and Durham are going to have to work hard for the remaining wickets. Handscomb is also an issue for them - he has 43.

    Leicestershire 422 & 100-4 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

Spoke too soon - Durham have an early breakthrough after lunch.

Colin Ackermann was dropped on 31, but does not escape this time.

He plays an uncharacteristically loose drive off Matt Potts and bottom-edges to Ollie Robinson who takes his second catch of the innings.

A 74-run stand with Peter Handscomb comes to an end. Wiaan Mulder is the next man in.

    Leicestershire 422 & 100-3 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

Matt Potts and Matt Parkinson opening up for Durham after lunch as the visitors hunt the seven wickets they need for victory.

Colin Ackermann and Peter Hansdcomb continue to build patiently and an Ackermann single off Potts brings up three figures.

Sussex 73-3, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

Tom Alsop doesn't like this, I think he thinks it's drifting down leg, but it's hit him infront and he has to go. James Harris makes an early breakthrough.

Nathan McAndrew has been promoted up the order from eight, not quite sure why... are the visitors looking to attack? They are 286 short of their target.

Tom Clark remains there on 34 from 102 balls.

Sussex 71-2, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

Glamorgan batted through two days to secure a draw at Hove with a second-innings total of 737 in May.

Sussex are now trying to thwart their hosts in the battle for the second promotion place behind, let's call them what they are, shall we, champions-elect, Durham.

Both these sides have won one and drawn six, the only unbeaten sides in the division, and the weather suggests they may remain separated by 10 points in the table at stumps.

  9. KENT BEAT NORTHANTS BY AN INNINGS AND 15 RUNSpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 369 v Kent 621

Jack White holes-out foir 59 trying a reverse sweep, looping it up for keeper Jordan Cox to take a simple catch and give Joe Denly 4-164 from 49 overs. He deserves a rest.

White had scored 115 runs in his career earlier on today. He has added more than 50% of that number on in one stellar knock here.

Kent take maximum points, Northants take one. They face a huge basement battle against Middlesex next week.

The two are separated by 12 points while Kent are now third-bottom, 21 points ahead of Middlesex, having played a game more.

for Jack Whitepublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 359-9 v Kent 621

What a reception. Incredible knock. 68 balls, seven fours, the last bringing up his maiden first-class fifty.

He had a best of 15 this morning after 35 innings. He had scored 115 runs in his career. This has been a joy to watch.

    The deficit is 25.

  12. Postpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 354-9 v Kent 621

Career-best for last-man Alex Russell... three players in a row for Northants having their best outing with the bat. Admittedly this is Russell's second first-class match and he has five.

  13. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec & 72-0, Gloucestershire 464

Yorkshire openers Adam Lyth and Fin Bean go to lunch in Leeds unparted.

The Tykes now lead by 158 runs - and this game surely has "10 to five" handshakes written all over it.

  14. Lunch at Sophia Gardenspublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

Sussex 71-2, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A frustrating morning with 15 overs lost to rain, ending any outside chance of Sussex looking to chase down the 359 needed to win, and reducing the time available for Glamorgan to take the wickets they need.

The forecast is for further rain from mid afternoon making a positive result unlikely.

Tom Clark has batted through the innings curbing his natural attacking instincts to be 34 not out at lunch, and Sussex need to bat another 63 overs to secure a draw.

These two sides are the only unbeaten teams left in Division Two of the County Championship this season so a draw would keep both sides well in contention for promotion.

But, with just one victory each, they’ll both need to improve their win ratio from the remaining six matches.

  15. Lunch at Leicesterpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Leicestershire 422 & 88-3 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

Colin Ackermann (36) and Peter Handscomb (30) have navigated their way through to lunch.

It was a terrible start for Leicestershire who saw Durham thrash 47 quick runs before declaring. The Foxes then lost two wickets in as many balls in their first over to slump to 1-2.

Rishi Patel departed soon after to a loose hook to become Ben Raine's third victim, but Ackermann and Handscomb have survived a few scares in an unbroken 62-run fourth-wicket stand.

  16. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Worcestershire 237 & 132-4, Derbyshire 578-5 dec

Two Derbyshire wickets gone in the morning session, just 62 scored by Worcestershire.

The Pears battling hard to save this game - and no way of illustrating it any better than the usually free-spirited Ed Pollock taking 47 minutes to make just four singles from 49 balls.

WICKET Sanderson c Cox b Qadri 46published at 13:01 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

Agony. He deserved a half-century but Ben Sanderson has edged behind trying a back-foot punch into the off-side. Kent are delighted. The 70-run stand is over.

Northants are still 39 runs adrift.

That means we'll have a late lunch at Wantage Road too, if the hosts can negotiate another 30 minutes, of course.

    Leicestershire 422 & 72-3 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

    Another lifeline for Colin Ackermann.

The Durham-bound batsman edges Ben Raine to second slip, but David Bedingham gets in a bit of a tangle.

It comes at a catchable height as the Australian dives to his right, but he can't get enough of a hand on the ball and it flies away for four.

Almost a fourth wicket from Raine. 15 minutes to lunch.

  19. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 334-8 v Kent 621

Career-best for Ben Sanderson. 34-years-old, 153 innings. None as fruitful as this.

He moves onto 43 before drilling the ball back to Joe Denly who cannot gather the low return catch.

A driven four and a reverse sweep to the fence take Jack White to 35*... he had scored 115 runs in his 35 innings in first-class career before today.

Northants are having fun. The partnership is worth 59.

    The deficit is 50.

  20. Postpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Northants 237 & 317-8 v Kent 621

Career-best 21* for Jack White in his 24th first-class appearance. Brought up by creaming a four off Joe Denly to the long-off fence.

Ben Sanderson (39) is three away from matching his own highest score in his 92nd first-class match.

The partnership is up to 42. The deficit is 67.
