    WICKET - Roderick c Came b Thomson 123published at 15:25 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Worcestershire 237 & 179-5 Derbyshire 578-5 dec

Alex Thomson strikes at the other end as he snaps up centurion Gareth Roderick, snaffled at short leg by Harry Came.

It ends a 63-run stand with Ed Pollock, of which Pollock provided just 14.

  2. Leus du Plooy comes on for a bowlpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Worcestershire 237 & 177-4 Derbyshire 578 -5 dec

Exciting bowling change at New Road.

Derbyshire captain Leus du Plooy has deployed himself.

Only an occasional bowler, he has not bowled since the opening game of the season - against Worcestershire.

  3. 150 runs

up for Leicestershirepublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Leicestershire 422 & 151-4 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

Wiaan Mulder (28) works a single off Ben Raine to bring up the 150.

That's also the fifty partnership for the fifth wicket partnership with Peter Handscomb (60).

Most importantly, the pair have chewed up 14-and-a-half overs as they look to make it through to tea.

It was spin at both ends after the weather break, but Division Two's leading wicket-taker Raine has returned the attack.

Durham know if they can get one of these two out it will really open things up. 40 overs left.

Derbyshire even resorted to an England-style Umbrella field in an attempt to dislodge Ed Pollock

It has now come all over gloomy at New Road too - and not just among the Derbyshire fielders as their victory hopes start to slip away.

Judging by the clouds above and the way the wind is getting up, they will not be out there much longer. Spots of rain too, it seems!

Ed Pollock certainly needs a rest. Six runs off 113 balls!!!

Not so pretty from Polly, but very effective.

Surely a candidate for one of the great almost runless rearguard actions in cricket history.

  5. wicket

WICKET Coles c Cooke b McIlroy 35published at 15:10 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

Sussex 172-6, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

James Coles is a very good player, but he's 19-years-old. There is no way he's been in a situation quite like this before, he worked his way to 35 from 40 balls but he's nicked behind to Chris Cooke, standing up to Jamie McIlroy, trying to cut away towards point.

His useful stint is over. Sussex will surely call off the chase now. Four wickets remain. Danial Ibrahim strides in.

  6. Bad light stops playpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Leicestershire 422 & 143-4 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

Play will resume at 15:06 BST.

Eight overs have been lost, leaving the teams with a minimum of 44 to face.

A little fillip for the Foxes, but there's still plenty of time for Durham to take those six wickets.

  7. Bad light stops play in Leedspublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec & 148-3, Gloucestershire 464

They are now off for bad light in Leeds too.

It will be a wonder if either side want to get back on.

  8. Bad light stops playpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Leicestershire 422 & 143-4 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

The rain has stopped and the covers are coming off, but bad light remains an issue.

The umpires have been out there with their light meters as we wait for the last of the dark clouds to pass over.

Shouldn't be too lone now before play resumes.

  9. 'This game could still go any way'published at 14:58 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

Sussex 149-5, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

A brief blast from all-rounder Nathan McAndrew raised hopes of Sussex going for the win over Glamorgan as he was pushed up the order and clubbed 42 off 40 balls.

After the top order pushed and prodded, it was a change in approach from the visitors as they had looked only interested in the draw.

McAndrew eventually holed out to deep mid-on off Jamie McIlroy, after Mitch Swepson’s three wickets had put Sussex in trouble at 95-4.

With rain a strong possibility, the game could still go any way, with more aggression from the batters also increasing the bowlers’ chances.

Sussex 149-5, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

Oli Carter gets off the mark with a risky pull shot past Zain ul-Hassan for four and the deficit is down to 210 but I regret to inform you the Bristol Channel is being pelted with heavy rain right now and it's heading towards Cardiff.

  11. wicket

WICKET McAndrew c Carlson b McIlroy 42published at 14:44 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

Sussex 143-5, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

Sorry Nathan. McAndrew hits six boundaries in his 40-ball 42 before mis-timing one into the Cardiff sky for Kiran Carlson to scamper around to pouch, giving Jamie McIlroy his first scalp.

216 still needed from 48 overs.

  12. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

Sussex 142-4, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

Nathan McAndrew has lofted Andrew Salter for a one-bounce four past the flying dive of Zain ul-Hassan at mid-on and then slammed Jamie McIlroy through the covers for another boundary... he has 41 from 38 deliveries.

The run-rate is sneaking up towards three an over and the asking rate is down to five or so. If the rain doesn't arrive then we might actually have a really interesting chase here...

  13. wicket

    WICKET - Masood b Zafar 32published at 14:39 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec & 135-3, Gloucestershire 464

    Yorkshire collapse!

    Two wickets in successive overs.

Gloucestershire wake up a few dozing spectators at Headingley by taking a second wicket in seven balls, as Shan Masood is clean bowled reverse sweeping.

    Leicestershire 422 & 143-4 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

The players are coming off at Leicester.

Those darkening skies bring a shower of light rain which has become slightly heavier.

Fear not Durham fans, it's only expected to be a brief interlude so we may not lose overs.

  15. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Leicestershire 422 & 136-4 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

Ben Raine is getting the ball to nip back in as he searches for his fourth wicket of the day.

Wiaan Mulder just about gets his bat on one such delivery, but then is almost cleaned up as he leaves the next ball which repeats the trick.

It's become gloomy at the Uptonsteel County Ground and the floodlights are on. Could the light lend the Foxes a hand?

There's 53 overs scheduled for Durham to find six wickets and Leicestershire to hold on.

  16. wicket

    WICKET - Lyth c O Price b Akhter 55published at 14:35 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec & 129-2, Gloucestershire 464

Adam Lyth completes the 96th first-class half-century of his career - and his 91st for Yorkshire - and then promptly gets out.

A second wicket of the match for Zaman Akhter.

Dawid Malan is the new man in.

  17. 50 runs

Half-century for Adam Lythpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Yorkshire 550-9 dec & 122-1, Gloucestershire 464

Adam Lyth goes to his half-century with a boundary off Zafar Gohar - and it is a second half-century stand of the Tykes second innings too.

His first ended straight after lunch when he lost Fin Bean for 38.

But he is now on 53, accompanied by Shan Masood, who has made 31.

  18. 50 runs

for Peter Handscombpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

    Leicestershire 422 & 133-4 v Durham 517-6 dec & 343-3 dec - Leics need 439 to win

    Well batted Peter Handscomb.

The Australian batsman has been a big part of Leicestershire’s long-awaited revival in the County Championship.

Matt Parkinson overpitches and Handscomb pushes a single to bring up a second half-century of the match and the fifth of the season.

Handscomb came in with the hosts wobbling on 26-3 and in all kinds of bother trying to save the game.

It’s also the 55th first-class fifty of his career and has been well paced, coming off 72 balls with minimal alarms.

  19. Postpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

Sussex 116-4, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

Four boundaries in 10 balls for Sussex. Maybe Nathan McAndrew (21 from 21 deliveries) and James Coles (10 from nine) are dipping their toes into the warm waters of positivity? 243 needed.

We saw what Kiran Carlson did for Glamorgan's innings with his 59 from 50 yesterday around this time. Maybe this is the impetus the visitors need?

  20. 100 runs

up for Glamorganpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 28 June 2023

Sussex 102-4, chasing 359 to beat Glamorgan

Nathan McAndrew picks up a short ball from James Harris which is heading towards his hip and pulls it through mid-wicket to the fence to take his side into three-figures.

On paper there are 55 overs to come and 257 to get but this pitch is not helpful to quick scoring and paper gets soggy when it rains... which it is forecast to do.
