for Tom Westleypublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Lancs v Essex 205-4

    Well batted, Tom Westley.

The Essex captain's third century of the season - and 27th of his career - arrives off 166 balls with a square cut for four off Colin de Grandhomme.

It's the 15th boundary of this innings. Leading from the front.

  2. Postpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 208-6 v Northants 219

Middlesex are straining every sinew to get past the Northants total - and Higgins hits a Keogh ball into the off side and sprints for a very ambitous two runs. De Caires dives in to the crease and the return throw just misses the sticks.

That could've been very close with a direct hit.

Three more runs off White at the other end.

  3. Latest from Cardiffpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Glamorgan 0-0 v Leicestershire

Following yesterday's wash-out, we have had just five balls of play at Sophia Gardens so far today.

There will be an inspection at 4pm.

  4. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 170-4 v Glos 316

Time for Zafar Gohar to try and break this Durham partnership.

His fifth ball is driven through the off side for one.

One more to Lees off the last ball with a nudge to the leg side. He's on 96.

  5. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 205-6 v Northants 219

Not a long delay, thankfully. Keogh is bowling with a slip and a short leg.

Saif Zaib is moving to a deep mid-wicket.

Higgins misses a sweep off the 5th ball and a half appeal for LBW is turned down.

Higgins gets a single to long on off the last ball.

  6. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Lancs v Essex 189-4

Still no joy for Lancashire since lunch at Stanley Park.

Three singles from the latest Colin de Grandhomme over and Tom Westley is 88 not out, with Paul Walter on 71.

for Rob Yatespublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire 390-6

    Rob YatesImage source, Rex Features

Rob Yates has just shattered a pane of glass on the Kent balcony with a colossal straight six off Hamid Qadri.

Adding injury to insult... though not physically, there was nobody nearby, it seems.

That's his first six and pumps his strike rate up to the high 40s.

Six overs to find the 10 runs required for the fourth bonus point.

  8. 6 runs

for James Rewpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Somerset 401-9 v Hampshire

He's only gone and brought the 400 up in the 107th over with a ludicrously-timed premeditated clip of a short James Fuller delivery for a six over mid-wicket.

The first six of his innings. He has 19 fours though. And 170 runs.

  9. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Hovepublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Sussex 402 v Derbyshire 96-2

Looks like it's synchro rain in various areas.

Mid-way through a Nathan McAndrew over, they are off at Hove, with Brooke Guest 37 not out for Derbyshire and Wayne Madsen on 16.

The visitors are 306 behind with eight wickets remaining.

  10. Postpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 162-4 v Glos 316

Matt Taylor returns to the attack and his third ball is driven down the ground by Lees for four.

    Lovely shot. Textbook.

That brings up the 50 partnership with Clark - in 84 balls. Lees is on 95.

Rain stops play at New Roadpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Yorkshire 309-4 v Worcestershire

More rain in Worcester - and off they come.

George Hill has 27, skipper Jonny Tattersall has 16 and Yorkshire have a second batting point.

  12. 150 runs

for Rob Yatespublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire 376-6

He's edged once and mis-timed a lofted drive which fell safe but otherwise a pretty chanceless innings, which is impressive given how long it's been going - 102 overs in the middle now.

150 from 319 balls with 16 fours. Immense concentration required for a knock like this. Well played Rob Yates.

    The lead is 205.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 201-6 v Northants 219

Not severe and it may not stay around for long - but I'm afraid we're going off the field at a very tense time for both sides.

  14. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 201-6 v Northants 219

Jack White replaces Sanderson in the Northants attack.

His first ball is edged off a flashing drive. The ball just evades Emilio Gay diving at second slip and Higgins gets away with four runs.

That's the Middlesex 200 in the 53rd over. Just 18 behind.

  15. First class best for Rob Yatespublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Kent 171 v Warwickshire 369-6

After 51 matches and 83 innings the Warwickshire opener has passed his previous highest score of 141 - a milestone greeted with whoops and hollers on the Bears balcony.

Both his centuries this season have come against Kent... Bears must like facing horses.

  16. rain stops play

Rain stops play at The Ovalpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Surrey 355 v Notts 139-1

    That's a disappointment.

The weather closes in over Kennington just as the Notts batters were looking increasingly confident.

Will Young pulled a short ball from Jordan Clark for four in the last over and Haseeb Hameed drove Jamie Overton straight for another from the final ball before the umpires decided to take the teams off.

Hameed is 57 not out, one more than his partner, and together they have added 112 since the fall of Ben Slater.

  17. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Durham 150-4 v Glos 316

Clark pulls a short ball from Shaw down square leg for one to take Durham to 150 in the 37th over.

The partnership with Lees is now worth 41.

  18. wicket

WICKET Brookes lbw b Dawson 12published at 14:53 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Somerset 392-9 v Hampshire

    A fourth for Liam Dawson.

Jack Brookes cracked a couple of fours in a nice little cameo but he comes forward on the front foot to Dawson and doesn't get the ball, seeing it instead thudding his knee roll heading towards off stump.

Shoaib Bashir joins James Rew who is on 161, having been dropped on 82 remember.

Six overs left to try to find another batting bonus point.

  19. Postpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 11 July 2023

    Middlesex 195-6 v Northants 219

Frustration for De Caires who aims a flashing drive outside off against Sanderson and misses.

    Middlesex trail by 25.

Make that 24, as De Caires drives on the back foot and gets a single through cover.

In the air for a while but the ball drops safely.
