  1. Aus 68-2published at 26 overs

    Lead by 94

Things look that much better for England after that wicket! It was a good catch from Harry Brook in the deep.

Steve Smith is in at four for Australia and suddenly it looks like there is a bit more in the surface for Moeen Ali.

A bit of extra bounce surprises Smith and the ball pops out into the off side.

Brook has bailed Johnny Bairstow out BIG TIME with that catch.

Labuschagne can't believe what he's done there. It was a lazy shot from him.

A wicket can change the game, he will be disappointed by that. It was a gift.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 25.2 overs

    Labuschagne c Brook b Moeen 33 (Aus 68-2)

Breakthrough! Marnus Labuschagne can't make the chance count and Jonny Bairstow will be the most relieved man inside Headingley!

The very next ball that Labuschagne faces after the drop! He goes for the slog-sweep, doesn't get all of it and there is a hush around Headingley as the ball hangs in the air...

...then a huge cheer as Harry Brook comes in off the rope at deep mid-wicket to take the catch!

Moeen Ali strikes - a big wicket for England!

    ‘I would’ve got that!’

He may be one of their own but the Headingley crowd collectively threw their hands in their air in exasperation after that Jonny Bairstow drop.

Put another one down in the book.

You just need to hold onto things like that.

You want your keeper to hold onto those.

It wasn't straightforward, not as straightforward as the one he dropped in the first innings, but when you're struggling for wickets you need to hold those.

  9. dropped catch

Labuschagne dropped on 33published at 25 overs

    Aus 67-1

Another chance goes begging as Marnus Labuschagne gloves one down the leg side!

More frustration for Mark Wood and England.

Labuschagne went for the pull shot, the ball comes off the glove but Jonny Bairstow can't cling on as he goes one-handed to his left.

Tough chance but one that should've been taken.

From a point of expectation vs reality, this is one of the most disappointing summers of Test cricket I can remember.

Australia have so much time left they can just bat England out of the game.

  13. Aus 66-1published at 23 overs

More steady stuff from Moeen Ali. Just three singles from the over.

Usman Khawaja is trying to play the spinner off the back foot and nearly gets himself in trouble with a ball that stays low but the left-hander is just about able to keep it out.

Sorry to disappoint, John. I personally wouldn't get rid of a coach and captain pairing that oversaw 11 wins in 13 Tests prior to this series after one run of bad results - even in the Ashes - but it's a game of opinions...

Bazball producing the worst result in Ashes history must surely end Stokes and McCullum's reign. This isn't t20, this is the real deal and they don't appear to have grasped the Importance of it to the cricket fans in this country (assume you won't print this as criticism of BarryBall isn't permitted in the cult)

  16. Aus 63-1published at 23 overs

Mark Wood is really bending his back but without much assistance from the pitch, there isn't anything to real trouble the Australia batters.

Four singles taken with the field spread far and wide.

England have gone to this short pitch tactic again. It's difficult with a depleted bowling attack.

The crowd is suddenly up at Headingley. The chants are "Barmy Army" are getting louder and louder as Mark Wood prepares to bowl.

The field looks set for a bit of short stuff. What can Wood do?
