Big moment!
England think they have Steve Smith lbw.
It's been given not out, which can often prove crucial.

Someone in the crowd yells 'No run!' so loudly as Woakes is running in that it wouldn't surprise me if Labuschagne got distracted by it.
He doesn't, and aptly defends for... no run.

Kevin Ticehurst: This is the session, if we don’t get Steve Smith or Marnus Labuschagne out early. Then we can wave goodbye to the Ashes today.
A tidy start from England after lunch as Mark Wood's over concedes just two.
But the pitch looks flat, and slow. These two are going to bat all day, aren't they?
Sigh.
Boos echo around Old Trafford as Marnus Labuschagne backs away with Mark Wood pretty much in his delivery stride.
And at that pace, it takes a lot for him to stop.
In fairness, someone did walk directly behind the bowler's arm but if the crowd needed something to get them fired up, that might be it.
Steve Smith averages 108.75 at Old Trafford. Excellent news.
He leaves, fidgets and fiddles his way through a Chris Woakes maiden.
England batter Ollie Pope has just posted this photo on social media with the caption: "Surgery a success."
Pope disclocated his shoulder during the third Test at Headingley and was ruled out of the rest of the summer.
Mark Wood tries pretty much everything in his over, going wide of the crease, mixing up the length, falling over.
He's bowling quick, but none of it disrupts Steve Smith.

Mark Wood has bowled a bit short. He bowled beautifully at Headingley by pitching it up.
A punch through the covers from Marnus Labuschagne, and they run three.
Here we go then.
Mark Wood is going to start proceedings after lunch.
That would certainly be nice, but I'm not sure how much bowling Ben Stokes has got in him.
Play will resume shortly, and job one for England: get rid of this man.

Ben Stokes, do that thing where you bowl a random over and break a concrete-set partnership.

Alongside Steve Smith is Marnus Labuschagne, who has had a tricky series with the bat and perhaps feels like he has a point or two to prove.
And of course, we're back for an Ashes Test at Old Trafford, so it would be wrong not to look back at one of the ground's most famous moments.
England did manage two early wickets - Broad trapping Khawaja lbw for his 599th Test wicket.
And then Chris Woakes took away his chance to have David Warner as his 600th by having him caught behind for 32.
That wouldn't go down too well with many England fans, Tim, but Smith has looked in ominously good form.
He has 33 from just 34 balls.

This has a Steve Smith ton written all over it. I hope I am wrong.

I don't think Pat Cummins will be worrying about losing the toss at this stage.
Australia are in a very satisfactory position having been put in to bat.
If they are still batting tonight, the Ashes aren't quite secure but they are looking pretty solid, because we know that this game is probably going to be shortened by the weather.
It looks like it's going to be a very good pitch to bat on when the ball gets older and softer.
Thanks, Tim.
Australia's session, then?
England have got some fighting to do.
