The usually ebullient Mark Wood is starting to look a little weary as he runs in one over before the new ball is due.

Alex Carey happy to defend anything on the stumps, then duck and dive out of the way of anything short.

Starc has been really passive against Moeen Ali but that deliver was wide of the off-stump and it was a good shot.

Moeen Ali strikes Mitchell Starc on the pad to mooted appeals from England's fielders.

Four balls later and the ball drops into Starc's arc and he goes down on one knee and larrups it across the line for four at cow corner.

Some of these tailenders are imposters. Carey has looked a good number seven in his team. Starc is usually really aggressive but is passive at the minute. After having lose those wickets in quick succession, Australia are being careful.

Some of the crowd at Old Trafford have started to filter towards the exits There are 13 overs left in the day, but with stumps at 18:30 BST we will not get all of those in.

Mark Wood is going short to Alex Carey who is backing away looking to carve it into the off side with two fielders on that half off the ground.
