    Glos 377 v Derbys 289-6

Josh Shaw is a bit leg side in this over and Anuj Dal is trying to get a bat on it.

The last ball is on target and blocked.

Derbyshire largely untroubled thus far today, though Anuj Dal got a bit lucky with an edge through the slips earlier off Zafar Gohar.

    Sussex 262 & 344-9 dec v Leicestershire 108 & 15-1

    Sussex are into the wickets!

There is the shot of a man out of form.

Sol Budinger should be getting much further forward than this but it is no more than a tentative prod and that is an easy call for the umpire when he's struck on the pads.

  3. 6 runs

Ben Slater on the attackpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 265 & 45-1 f/o

Nottinghamshire haven't had much to cheer about but this will raise a smile or two.

Not particularly short from Nathan Gilchrist, but Ben Slater picks up the length superbly and swivel pulls the ball high over mid wicket.

    Sussex 262 & 344-9 dec v Leicestershire 108 & 15-0

An effortless drive from Rishi Patel brings him his second boundary.

We could watch shots like that all day. Gorgeous.

Two balls later, Ari Karvelas gets one to bounce up off a length to hit Patel on the glove.

That is the challenge of being an opening batter.

Josh Shaw is drifting past leg stump and Leus du Plooy follows it but aborts a shot.

Runs here though as Zafar Gohar drops short and is hammered through cover by Anuj Dal for four.

Zafar straighten up his line and Dal defends.

Left-hander Sol Budinger steers one off the back foot through the covers for four off Ari Karvelas to get the run chase going.

Only 100 or so more shots like that and the Foxes will get very close!

A four in between first and second slip. Who'd be a bowler?

"It really has gone perfectly in between them."

    Glos 377 v Derbys 282-6

We have our first bowling change of the day, as Josh Shaw replaces Ed Middleton in the attack with a new ball.

Just the one run from the over.

Zafar Gohar will continue at the other end with a slip and a short leg.

He's getting turn but from wide of off stump.

The third ball is short and cut in front of square by Anuj Dal for four.

Close! The fifth ball is edged off a flashing drive between first and second slip for a streaky four. A sharp chance goes begging.

It's not raining hard at the moment and the umpires are hoping these pesky grey clouds blow over.

Now Sussex skipper Cheteshwar Pujara is a player of serious international stature with over a century of Test caps to his name.

But to send his players back out for what turns out to be six balls, before declaring?

Sussex have gained eight runs, but lost two overs of bowling.

And if Leicestershire reach a target of 491, let alone 499, good luck to them.

  13. Postpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Kent 446 v Notts 265 & 23-1 f/o

A nervous moment for Ben Slater, who plays down the wrong line to an arm ball from Aron Nijjar.

Steven Mullaney looks organised in defence against Michael Hogan at the other end.

Unfortunately the grey clouds have rolled in and we have more than a little drizzle.

Maiden over. We're staying on for now.

  16. Postpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Glos 377 v Derbys 263-6

Not the greatest start for Zafar Gohar, who begins the session with a leg side wide.

The left arm spinner is targeting the rough with two slips and a forward short leg in play. Just the one extra and no runs in the over.

Leggie Ed Middleton will complete the all-spin attack at the other end.

Leus du Plooy gets the first run off the bat since the delay, down the track with a flashing drive.

Ben Slater and Steven Mullaney have a mountain to climb in a game you'd suspect Notts need to draw to remain comfortably clear of the relegation zone.

Ben Salter will face Michael Hogan to start the session of play.

  20. Lunch in Cardiffpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 12 September 2023

    Yorkshire 500, Glamorgan 213-7

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan have managed one session of firm resistance - but need to find five more in order to save the game.

63 runs were added in 29 overs between the showers, for the loss of overnight half-centurion Kiran Carlson for 64, when he fended a short ball to short leg as Matthew Revis claimed his fourth wicket.

Dan Douthwaite was briefly tempted to hook in the air by Revis as Yorkshire packed the leg-side field, but quickly thought better of it.

Douthwaite, in his first Championship match since April, and Andy Gorvin settled into a pattern of gritty defence as spinner Dom Bess wheeled away unchanged with fielders clustered round the bat.

They have so far shared 40 for the eighth wicket - and the hosts now trail by only 287, with a further 138 to avoid the possibllity of being asked to follow on.
