    A lucky break for Joe Clark, who edges Yuzvendra Chahal through first and second slip for two runs to move to five.

    Matthew Montgomery appears to have edged Evison through slip at the other end but that ball has missed everything and gone for three byes.

    Kent have an excellent chance to leapfrog Middlesex with a handy lead in the Division One table.

    He is the sixth Sussex bowler used and possibly a sign of how nicely Rishi Patel and Colin Ackermann have been batting.

    Carson opens with a maiden and he almost has Ackermann caught and bowled.

    Sussex would be thrilled to break this stand before tea.

    The skies overhead are still a fairly ugly grey but it is now dry, at least.

    It has stopped raining - and umpires Bailey and Pratt have even been out for an "unofficial inspection".

    Leus du Plooy is down the track to Dom Goodman, thrashing the ball through mid off for one to keep the strike.

    This is only Mark Watt's sixth first-class innings and Leus du Plooy is closing in on a fourth Championship century of the season.

    He move to 87 with a single steered into mid wicket off Zafar Gohar.

    Mark Watt drives to long on for one. Another single for du Plooy and Watt launches the last ball down long on for four.

    De Caires overcompensates with the next, dropping way short and Dane Vilas helps himself to four more, pulling it away.

    Vilas then gets two more out into the deep, before grabbing a single.
