  1. Postpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Somerset 132-1 v Kent

Michael Hogan starts with a very full ball just outside the line of off stump and Tom Lammonby steers the ball safely to third man off a thick edge for four.

Lammonby gets a single off the second ball and Lewis Goldsworthy is forward, defending into the off side.

    Steady start for Somerset.

  2. wicket

    WICKET Bamber b Hannon-Dalby 0published at 16:10 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Middx 100-9 v Warwicks

    A double wicket-maiden for Oliver Hannon-Dalby.

Ethan Bamber decides to leave the final ball of OHD's 10th over. Not good.

It nips back again and knocks back his off pole for a five-ball duck. The Bears seamer has 4-19.

Tim Murtagh gets a standing ovation as he comes down the pitch to bat in his final match for Middlesex at Lord's.

  3. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Somerset 127-1 v Kent

What do Kent need to do to force a clatter of wickets here?

Tom Lammonby and Lewis Goldsworthy are back in the middle for the hosts.

Michael Hogan will bowl to Lammonby.

  4. Postpublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Essex 170-5 v Hants

Matt Critchley steers Liam Dawson towards point at the start of a new over and one run takes him to 40 not out.

It's the first of three singles added in the over but the umpires are now taking a light-meter reading.

  5. Azad and Nair dig in for Northantspublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Surrey v Northants 106-2

The umpires are worried about the gloomy overheads and what looks like a passing shower. We're playing on - for now.

Hassan Azad gets a single clipped to square leg off Dan Worrall to bring up the third wicket 50 partnership in 138 balls.

Karun Nair gets a single off Dan Worrall with a glance to the leg side.

Jordan Clark bowls to Karun Nair and a very full delivery is driven through wide mid off for four.

  6. wicket

WICKET and Tea at Grace Road Hill c Cox b Scrivenpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Yorks 96-4 v Leics

What a fightback from the Foxes!

George Hill looks in two minds as gets a nick on a Tom Scriven delivery to give the Leicestershire seamer his first wicket of the day.

Yorkshire have lost three wickets for 17 runs and that's tea.

  7. wicket

    WICKET Helm lbw b Hannon-Dalby 2published at 16:04 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Middx 100-8 v Warwicks

A third wicket for Oliver Hannon-Dalby.

The Bears seamer chooses a fuller length and it nips in back up the slope ans crashes into the pad of Tom Helm.

It's absolutely plum and Helm is gone for two.

Ethan Bamber walks to the crease at Lord's.

  8. Northants reach 100 for two down at the Ovalpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Surrey v Northants 100-2

Jordan Clark returns to the bowling attack and Hassan Azad moves to 47 with a nudge to leg for a single.

Clark spears one into leg stump and Karun Nair clips that away behind square for four.

The Northants 100 comes in the 43rd over.

It's been very hard work for the visitors at the Oval, but they've kept wickets in hand.

Nair subsequently plays and misses outside off but survives the over.

  9. Postpublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Worcs 22-0 v Durham

Gareth Roderick has made a positive start at New Road, despite appearing to be in two minds when facing left-armer Visha Fernando - using a closed and open stance in his first over.

The latest, though, is bowled by Ben Raine and Roderick clips him past the short leg fielder for four to advance to 14 not out.

  10. wicket

    WICKET Yadav b Hannon-Dalby 7published at 15:55 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Middx 98-7 v Warwicks

    The collapse continues at Lord's.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby gets one to nip back up the slope and Jayant Yadav can do nothing but inside edge it on to the top of his off stump.

Tom Helm is the new man in to join Josh de Caires.

  11. Postpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Surrey v Northants 95-2

A dangerous passage of play for Northants as Dan Worrall swings a ball into the pads and Hassan Azad survives a huge appeal for LBW.

Another appeal turned down as Worrall again swings the ball in late.

Azad gets a single off the last ball and then drives Kemar Roach down long on for four.

Great shot off a yorker length ball with a beautifully straight bat.

  12. Postpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Essex 161-5 v Hants

Hampshire skipper James Vince isn't happy with the state of the ball.

The umpires summon the box of spares.

Probably good news for the two Essex batters - they've run three threes since play resumed. Phew!

  13. wicket

WICKET Wharton b Davis 1published at 15:50 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Yorks 91-3 v Leics

Another for Will Davis and the Foxes!

An unconvincing 11-ball stay comes to a rather predictable end.

James Wharton leaves a ball from Davis which moves in a little and hits the top of middle. That goes down in the file marked 'bad leaves'.

Leicestershire have opened this game up just before tea after Yorkshire's flying start.

  14. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Somerset 127-1 v Kent

The first session of play has emphatically gone Somerset's way on a green pitch where Kent would've hoped for more assistance.

They need bonus points to close the gap on eighth-placed Middlesex, who have struggled with the bat against Warwickshire at Lord's.

Tom Lammonby has played superbly for his 70, bar the occasional streaky drive.

Lewis Goldsworthy has 30 from 46 balls.

The second wicket partnership of 50 came in 83 balls with a glorious Lewis Goldsworthy drive off the bowling of Daniel Bell-Drummond through long off for four.

  15. Postpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Worcs 4-0 v Durham

Time for action at New Road.

Ben Raine will bowl the opening over for Durham.

Gareth Roderick and Jake Libby - the latter with 1,000 runs for the season in his sights - are the two batters, and Roderick is up and running with a third-ball boundary, driven past mid-off.

  16. Postpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Surrey v Northants 90-2

A slow start for Northants since play resumed, but Hassan Azad moves up a gear with a beautiful square drive off Kemar Roach for four runs.

Lovely shot, leaning into the line of the ball.

An appeal for a leg side catch is turned down.

Azad gets a single off the fifth ball.

Karun Nair pushes at the last ball while stuck on the crease, which brushes the back pad pad and is caught by Ben Foakes.

    Nair survives.

  17. wicket

WICKET Cracknell lbw b Rushworth 28published at 15:44 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Middx 91-6 v Warwicks

Chris Rushworth takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Six down and it's two bowling points for the Bears.

Joe Cracknell plays around a Chris Rushworth delivery which hits him on the back pad in front and the finger goes up.

Cracknell was a long way down the pitch and the ball looked like it may have been doing too much, but he goes for a 60-ball 28 and the 36-run partnership is broken

    Yadav comes to the crease.

  18. Postpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Middx 91-5 v Warwicks

The floodlights are up - and now on - at Lord's.

High winds this morning meant the telescopic floodlights were retracted for safety, but the wind has now dropped to a level they can return to their normal height.

They could be off again soon if the light gets any worse. Fingers crossed.

  19. Postpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Somerset 122-1 v Kent

Lewis Goldsworthy moves to 26 with a front foot clip to square leg off the bowling of Daniel Bell-Drummond.

Tom Lammonby is beaten outside off stump by Joey Evison at the other end, but latches on to a shorter third delivery, swivelling on the spot and pulling the ball away through square leg for four.

  20. 150 runs

up for Essexpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Essex 150-5 v Hants

Looks like Matt Critchley is determined to carry on where he left off before the rain interruption.

He flicks Mohammad Abbas to mid-wicket for four - it was aerial for a time, but safe - as the Essex total reaches 150.

There are, in theory, 43 more overs scheduled today.
