Kohli clips elegantly past mid-on for his first boundary, and looks like he's keen to be positive here.
Cummins keeps him in check with a boundary to duck beneath, and that's drinks.
Here's how Rohit Sharma's promising innings came to an end.
An eruption, as Virat Kohli gets himself off the mark.
And another as he scampers a single from the last ball to keep the strike.
He's completed some remarkable chases in his time. This one would certainly be quite something.

India need a partnership here especially if Australia keep going with the short balls.
Target 444
Ajinkya Rahane, who was battered and bruised by Australia's bowlers in his first-innings knock of 89, joins Kohli at the crease.
They are both tough, both love a battle.
But this is as difficult as it gets.
Rahane evades a vicious Cummins bouncer first up.
India's promising start feels like quite a long time ago now.
Alex Hartley

It was a short ball and he just couldn't help himself to play that shot, toe end of the bat straight through to Carey.
Pujara should've just left it alone.
The crowd has gone quiet.
Pujara c Carey b Cummins 27 (Ind 93-3)
Another!
This is a very uncharacteristic shot from Pujara, who is usually so composed and correct.
He tries to upper-cut a short ball from Cummins over the keeper's head, but can only feather an edge into his gloves.
After such an impressive partnership, both Rohit and Pujara have departed in the space of two overs.

On THAT catch, if that is the winning Ashes catch for, say, Stokes, none of us doubt it. Can someone please find a fascinating experimental piece that a few of the commentators did a few years back on such catches - still shots from various angles. And because it’s a 2D image looking at 3D, all of them looked not out, but all were fair catches! Fair catch from Green, although, as an England fan, it galls me.

The noise at The Oval tells you exactly who has walked to the crease.
Virat Kohli successfully survives his first ball from Nathan Lyon.

It was pitching straight, too full to play that paddle sweep shot there. Just looking to find some runs but it was clever bowling from Lyon. There was no need for Rohit Sharma to play that shot.
Rohit lbw b Lyon 43 (Ind 92-2)
Hitting off stump and it's a huge breakthrough!
Rohit Sharma looks gutted as he trudges off, despite the applause of the India fans. He was batting beautifully.
Australia's grip tightens.

It did look very straight and Alex Hartley has her finger up too...
And he strikes in his first over!
Or does he?
Rohit Sharma is given lbw after an attempted sweep. He reviews, but looks rather sheepish.
Now this'll be interesting.
Nathan Lyon for the first time.

Even though it's an immense target, it does show you that if you have the mindset to score then your defence is better and you can pick up off a loose ball. All the greats have that mentality.
It's the magic of Test cricket, you can write your own narrative.
Target 444
The Oval erupts for the 50 partnership between Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara.
It's come in decent time too - from just 70 balls.
Veteran seamer Anya Shrubsole is showing she still has it in the Charlotte Edwards Cup final.
She has taken two early wickets, including her former England team-mate Tammy Beaumont for defending champions Southern Vipers against The Blaze.
Kathryn Bryce and Georgie Boyce are recovering for The Blaze having come together at 19-2.
They're six overs into the T20 match.
Target 444
Short ball from Cameron Green and pummelled for a one-bounce four!
Mitchell Starc at fine leg looks bewildered - he's completely lost sight of it. The bowler Green has his hands on his head, but I don't think Starc stood a chance.
It was timed to perfection by Rohit Sharma.
