More from Anya Shrubsole on whether it was an easy decision to retire at the end of the season:

"In some parts [it was] difficult, in some parts [it was] really easy.

"It hurts a lot, I've got a lot of life left to live and I'd like to be able to take the dogs out for a walk and things like that, and it not really hurt.

"So from that point of view it's been really easy, but it's obviously difficult. Half of my life has been spent playing cricket so when you give that up it's never easy, but I know it's right and I know it's the right time."

Southern Vipers and ex-England bowler Anya Shrubsole on her decision to retire:

"I'm going to play in The Hundred and then I will be retiring at the end of the season.

"It's hard to tell given the effortlessness with which I move around the field, but it hurts quite a lot to be perfectly honest with you.

"I'll have a bit of a rest now, get myself in a good place to play in The Hundred and then that will be that."

Southern Vipers win the Charlotte Edwards Cup

In truth, Southern Vipers have been dominant on Finals Day - or Finals Days, to be more precise, after that thunderstorm ended play early yesterday.

Opening batters Danni Wyatt and Maia Bouchier gave Vipers great starts with the bat in both matches, while their bowling attack - led by the experienced Anya Shrubsole - were magnificent in restricting The Blaze to 114-8 in the final.

They've retained the trophy and Lottie's coming back home.

It must be tough for The Blaze, after winning seven from seven to go straight through to the final. The toss yesterday was a key moment for this game.

A very, very good start for Sophie Munro, whose variety of slower balls keeps Vipers down to just two runs from the 13th over.

    Southern Vipers 94-3 - target 115

Ella McCaughan advances down the pitch against spinner Lucy Higham but fails to connect and Sarah Bryce whips off the bails.

Just 21 needed to win from 8.3 overs as teenage England all-rounder Freya Kemp joins her captain in the middle.

    Southern Vipers 88-2 - target 115

It's 50 and out for Danni Wyatt, who misses one that skids on a little bit from Nadine de Klerk and is given out lbw.

There were 10 fours in that innings from Wyatt and it should be enough to clinch the trophy.

Captain Georgia Adams is the new batter and would have dreamed of walking out with her side needing less than three an over for victory.

A fifty off 27 balls for Danni Wyatt. Exceptional batting.

Almost the halfway point of the run chase and this final is only heading one way. I expect to be telling you about Southern Vipers retaining the Charlotte Edwards Cup in the not too distant future.

  16. Postpublished at 9 overs

    Southern Vipers 78-1 - target 115

During the course of this innings, Danni Wyatt has overtaken Bryony Smith of South East Stars as the leading run-scorer in this year's Charlotte Edwards Cup.

She is up to 47 not out and on the verge of a third successive half-century in the domestic 20-over competition.

The scoring rate has slowed a tad since Maia Bouchier's departure, but no reason for alarm for Southern Vipers at this stage.

  17. Postpublished at 8 overs

A minor win for The Blaze as only four runs come from Kirstie Gordon's over.

Sarah Glenn is staying on at the other end.

Seeing how Danni Wyatt's form is at the moment, that's going to set her in great stead for the Ashes in a couple of weeks. England will be looking at these performances in the past couple of days and thinking 'wow'.

England leg-spinner Sarah Glenn enters the attack and, at the very least, stops the flow of runs for a couple of balls.

But it's only a temporary reprieve as Danni Wyatt sweeps her international team-mate to the square leg boundary.

Vipers up to 50 in the fifth over.
