  • Chris Greaves takes four wickets as Sri Lanka reach 245 all out

  • Pathum Nissanka top scores on 75 for Sri Lanka

  • Greaves 56 all out in Scotland innings of 163 all out

  1. wicket

WICKET McBride c Shanaka b Hasaranga 29published at 14.3 overs

    Scotland 73-5 (target 246)

    He strikes immediately.

A low full toss outside off-stump, but Chris McBride can only spoon it to Dasun Shanaka at cover.

A soft dismissal after he had battled hard.

Chris Greaves was superb with ball in hand - can he stand up with the bat?

  2. Postpublished at 14 overs

    Scotland 73-4 (target 246)

    Kasun Rajitha to continue.

Michael Leask gets off the mark with an imposing pull shot through midwicket, before the Forfarshire man punches through the covers for a single.

An attempted slower ball then comes out all wrong and goes away to the boundary for five wides.

12 off the over, and the pressure lifts.

    Here comes Wanindu Hasaranga...

  3. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Scotland 61-4 (target 246)

Maheesh Theekshana continues to whirl away from one end, moving it both ways and asking questions.

Chris McBride knocks a single to mid-off, and Michael Leask then dots out the rest of the set.

Sri Lanka still have Wanindu Hasaranga, the leading wicket-taker at this qualifier, up their sleeve...

  4. wicket

WICKET Mackintosh lbw b Rajitha 3published at 13:01 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Scotland 60-4 (target 246)

Another one goes, and Scotland are in big trouble now.

Tomas Mackintosh in pinned bang in front by Rajitha, and the umpire's finger shoots up.

Michael Leask is in next, so often the man for the big occasion for Scotland.

Has he got another big performance in him?

  5. wicket

WICKET Berrington c de Silva b Theekshana 10published at 10.2 overs

    Scotland 55-3 (target 246)

    Gone this time.

It's beautiful bowling, it really is from Maheesh Theekshana. He gets another one to straighten, as he did to remove Brandon McMullen, and Richie Berrington can only nick it to Dhananjaya de Silva at slip, who takes a sharp catch away to his right.

Tomas Mackintosh is the new man.

  6. Postpublished at 10 overs

    Scotland 54-2 (target 246)

Kasun Rajitha is into the attack, looking to make amends for that horror drop. Genuinely, your average club cricketer would be furious if they dropped that.

However, Richie Berrington slashes one down to third for a boundary to rub salt into the wound.

  7. dropped catch

Berrington dropped on fivepublished at 9 overs

    Scotland 50-2 (target 246)

Deary me - that might be the worst drop I've ever seen in international cricket.

Richie Berrington looks to go over mid-off, but hits it straight to Kasun Rajitha, and turns to head back to the pavillion.

However, Rajitha gets nowhere near catching it - the ball thuds into his chest and bounces away.

  8. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Scotland 48-2 (target 246)

There's some, let's call it excessive appealing, going on out there.

First Lahiru Kumara thinks he's had Richie Berrington caught behind when it comes off the thigh pad, and then he's pleading for an lbw decision when it was sliding well down leg, and it runs away for four leg-byes.

Umpire Alex Wharf is a calm head though, and shakes his head on both occasions.

Berrington then drives powerfully for four - he won't just let Kumara bowl at him, won't the Scotland skipper.

  9. Postpublished at 7 overs

    Scotland 39-2 (target 246)

Maheesh Theekshana has found his length now, and is causing all sorts of problems, routinely going past the outside edge.

A misfield in the covers allows Richie Berrington to get off the mark, and lifts the pressure somewhat.

  10. wicket

WICKET McMullen b Theekshana 5published at 6.2 overs

    Scotland 38-2 (target 246)

    That's out.

Brandon McMullen plays for spin back into him, but Maheesh Theekshana gets one to go the other way and takes out middle and off.

Scotland lose their second wicket, and it brings the captain, Richie Berrington, to the middle.

  11. Postpublished at 6 overs

    Scotland 38-1 (target 246)

A much better over from Lahiru Kumara, with just the one run from it.

    Maheesh Theekshana to continue...

  12. Postpublished at 5 overs

    Scotland 37-1 (target 246)

Some good running sees Brandon McMullen pinch a single, before Chris McBride belts a full toss through extra cover for four more.

A single down the ground from McBride means that Scotland take 10 from Maheesh Theekshana's first over.

  13. Postpublished at 4.1 overs

    Scotland 31-1 (target 246)

A loosener from Maheesh Theekshana, full outside the off-stump, and Brandon McMullen climbs in.

Scotland's number three drives imperiously for four to get off the mark.

  14. 6 runs

    Postpublished at 4 overs

    Scotland 27-1 (target 246)

Chris McBride punches one pleasantly through the off-side for two, before using the pace of Lahiru Kumara to pull high over long-leg for six.

McBride continues to attack, whipping Kumara through the leg-side for four more.

Excellent stuff from the young Scotland opener - 12 from the over.

It prompts a change of bowling. Maheesh Theekshana is into the attack.

  15. Postpublished at 3 overs

    Scotland 15-1 (target 246)

Just the one run from Kasun Rajitha's second over.

Scotland consolidating after that early loss.

  16. Postpublished at 2 overs

    Scotland 14-1 (target 246)

Seven runs from the over for Scotland, but also the wicket of Matt Cross.

Brandon McMullen is the new man at three, fresh from his first ODI century against Oman.

  17. wicket

WICKET Cross b Kumara 7published at 1.4 overs

    Scotland 14-1 (target 246)

The first boundary of the chase is a lovely square drive by Matt Cross, hit on the up through point.

However, he's gone from the very next ball, bowled all ends up by a hooping in-swinger from Lahiru Kumara.

Sri Lanka needed an early breakthrough, and there it is.

  18. Postpublished at 1 over

    Scotland 7-0 (target 246)

Chris McBride and Matt Cross are the openers for Scotland, and they get the chase off to a decent start.

A leg-bye from Kasun Rajitha's bowling gets the scoreboard going, before a pair of threes see both men off the mark.

  19. Postpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Sri Lanka 245 v Scotland

On the TV coverage, Russel Arnold has just boldly proclaimed that Sri Lanka have enough runs on the board...

    Steady on, Russel.

  20. 'It's nice to contribute' - Greavespublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 27 June 2023

    Sri Lanka 245 v Scotland

Chris Greaves finished with figures of 4-32 in 6.3 overs, and has been giving his thoughts to Sky Sports at the half-way stage.

"I think the guys in the middle were fantastic to build pressure, and then it's nice to contribute," he said.

"The fielding in the ring was great. The pitches here have all been pretty similar. I think the boys did pretty well.

"Take it one step at a time with the chase, we've got good depth and we need to play every ball on its merits."
