    West Indies 92-6 v Scotland

Just what Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder will want to see - Chris Sole is back on. That's a huge play from Scotland, incredibly aggressive.

They want Holder gone. He's the last recognised batsmen in this line-up and if they can get him, it becomes a matter of time.

Crikey, Sole has just bounced Holder - all 201 centimetres of him.

And that 6'7" frame has just smashed the next short one for six, pulling it over the long leg fence. Massive. I think that's the first of the innings.

  2. wicket

WICKET Pooran c McBride b Watt 21published at 20.4 overs

    West Indies 81-6 v Scotland

    HE'S GONE! JUST!

Nicholas Pooran goes for the moon ball, aiming for the skies... but it doesn't have enough to get over the rope.

Chris McBride is under it and he gathers... then spills... then gathers... then spills. At the fourth or fifth attempt, he clutches the ball gratefully to his chest. That was horrendous to watch, but it's a wicket.

    My heart almost stopped there.

Spin from both ends now. Brandon McMullen's spell is over and he's replaced by Michael Leask. How will Pooran and Holder deal with these two?

    Four off Leask's first over.

In cricket, 'a gun' is a colloquial term for the 'best player on the pitch'. You're welcome.

Sharif comes back for another over, only conceding two from it. It's very tidy from Scotland's leading wicket-taker in ODIs.

McMullen from the other end... six from it, including an inch-perfect on-drive from Jason Holder. It's a brilliant four.

Mark Watt is on for a bowl. He's got the piece of paper out with his instructions. Give that a good read, son. He's even letting his goatee grow in!

  6. Postpublished at 16 overs

    West Indies 66-5 v Scotland

McMullen is back on after the drinks break. Three off the over.

Just one small problem for Scotland. Mark Watt has gone off for some treatment. Adrian Neill is into the field. Hopefully nothing too serious, and he can have a bowl later.

  7. drinks break

    Drinks breakpublished at 15 overs

    West Indies 63-5 v Scotland

Two runs from the latest Brandon McMullen over. The graphic on the telly tells us the ball is swinging almost twice as much in Harare as it was in Bulawayo.

McMullen's been enjoying it, anyway. Sharif back on from the other end. Another wicket now would be just fantastic, lads.

A maiden instead. You'll take it. Sharif attacks wide round the wicket and Pooran can only defend away.

If you're a West Indies fan, I can only apologise. Your lads are in real trouble here. The giant Jason Holder is in - will he have any answers to the Scotland bowling?

    Few have, so far.

Sharif traps Holder on the crease, and he clips it into the air off the outside of his bat... but it doesn't carry. The West Indies batsmen are all at sea.

  10. wicket

WICKET Hope c Cross b Sharif 13published at 12.2 overs

    West Indies 60-5 v Scotland

    HE'S GONE NEXT BALL!

It's a brilliant ball from Safyaan Sharif, and Hope can only edge behind into the gloves of Matthew Cross. He just tickled it.

That is a MASSIVE wicket. The West Indies main partnership is ended, the one that their hopes relied on.

And of course, history repeats itself! Sharif got Hope in the narrow loss in 2018, caught behind as well.

  11. Postpublished at 12.1 overs

    West Indies 60-4 v Scotland

Another loud appeal in Harare as Safyaan Sharif catches Shai Hope on the pads. Richie Berrington thinks about the review but decides against it, again. Probably justified, perhaps sliding down leg side.

There's a chap with a Queen's Park Rangers top in the crowd. It has Willock emblazoned on the back - a nod to Chris, brother of Newcastle's Joe. The eldest Willock brother - Matty - played for St Johnstone and St Mirren on loan. You cannot escape Scottish football.

Back to the cricket... and Brandon McMullen is millimetres from a fourth wicket. It swings in at the last second to almost beat Nicholas Pooran, but the smallest of edges beats the off-stump and Matthew Cross behind the wicket. My goodness.

The next is spooned through the air at cover, but there's no one there. It's a four.

    West Indies 49-4 v Scotland

First change in the bowling attack. Safyaan Sharif is on. He's not been at his best in this tournament and was dropped for the game against Sri Lanka. For this massive game, he's been recalled.

There's a fairly big milestone he could achieve today. But, I mentioned it twice last time and he didn't get a wicket so I'm not going to jinx it just yet.

His first over falls victim to a trademark Shai Hope drive. Creamed to the covers.

  14. Postpublished at 10 overs

    West Indies 43-4 v Scotland

Sky Sports have been replaying that Chris Sole wicket of Kyle Mayers and I honestly could watch it all day.

Brandon McMullen is back on. Just one off the over. What an opening spell from the Scots.

  15. Postpublished at 9.2 overs

    West Indies 42-4 v Scotland

Nicholas Pooran gets off the mark, taking a large bite out of a wide one that Chris Sole offers him. It had been a great over until that point. Six off it in the end.

Pooran is a big scorer for the West Indies. 302 runs for him in this competition alone - only behind Sean Williams of Zimbabwe in the rankings.

Shai Hope has made 270 in total, high up the rankings too. The West Indies' two biggest hitters are on right now. If Scotland can find a way through either, it would be huge.

  16. Postpublished at 8 overs

    West Indies 35-4 v Scotland

Beautiful cover drive from Shai Hope. A picture perfect shot gets him his first boundary.

What's that there? A McMullen over without a wicket? First time today that's happened. Yeesh.

  17. wicket

WICKET Mayers b Sole 5published at 6.4 overs

    West Indies 30-4 v Scotland

Never mind! Chris Sole has just sent the off-stump for a walk down the ground!

That's an unbelievable ball. Sole gets in on the act! An absolute peach, thanks for coming Kyle Mayers. Just an absolute peach.

Nicholas Pooran comes on. Goodness me, I'm giddy. Hopefully Scotland have calmer heads.

  18. Postpublished at 6.3 overs

    West Indies 30-4 v Scotland

Kyle Mayers pulls it to square leg and finds the boundary rope for the first time. A much-needed confidence boost for the West Indies batsmen, a crunching shot.

  19. Postpublished at 6 overs

    West Indies 26-3 v Scotland

This is precarious for the West Indies. Precarious indeed. The left-handed Kyle Mayers is in.

His first ball strikes him on the pads and Brandon McMullen is screaming for it. Scotland have DRS... but they choose not to review. Richie Berrington was quick in that decision.

Looks like it was missing leg stump. He's got three wickets in three overs already. It won't be four - just yet.

  20. wicket

WICKET King c&b McMullen 22published at 5.2 overs

    West Indies 25-3 v Scotland

GET OUT OF HERE BRANDON McMULLEN!

A gentle, straight ball does for Brandon King - who had looked so good up until now. He misreads the slower pace and lofts it delicately back into the breadbasket of McMullen. It's an absolute gift!

That's three for the Scotland all-rounder this morning and it's not even half an hour in! He's tearing through this West Indies top order!
