    It's a rollercoaster of a game.

Eskinazi st Conway b Ahmed 31 (Fire 64-3)

    Another one for Ahmed!

Eskinazi breaks the dam with consecutive fours from the young spinner but Ahmed has his man with the next delivery - the batter charges down the pitch, realises he's in trouble but can't do anything about it.

Devon Conway has all the time in the world to make the stumping,

  4. Fire 55-2published at 60 balls left

Welsh Fire find themselves slightly becalmed - a third boundary-less set, this time off new bowler James Fuller.

An impressive set, just a single from it - Eskinazi tries to paddle him over his shoulder from the final delivery, but it all goes a bit wrong.

  5. How's stat?!published at 20:28 British Summer Time 4 August 2023

    Tom AbellImage source, ECB

There's no obvious weaknesses in Tom Abell's game.

He averages 31.44 against pace and 35.22 against spin.

He's over 25 against every bowling type.

Our only tip for James Vince is maybe hide Rehan Ahmed.

    Abell averages 53 at a strike-rate of 150 against leg-spin.

  6. Fire 54-2published at 65 balls left

Brave bring Tim David into the attack. He didn't bowl against Trent Rockets on Tuesday and has done so in under a third of his appearances in T20 and Hundred cricket.

He has a curious run-up, hiding the ball behind him until he brings his arm through for his off-breaks. Not a bad set though - he goes for runs off every ball, but no boundaries.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 70 balls left

    Wells c Overton b Ahmed 24 (Fire 47-2)

A wicket for the England prodigy!

Wells looks to lift the young England leggie down the ground and can only pick out Craig Overton at long-on.

    Here comes captain Tom Abell.

We said earlier that Joe Clarke had a weakness when the ball moves away from him.

    Here's the evidence.

  9. Fire 43-1published at 75 balls left

Wells loops a shot into the mid-wicket off Garton - Craig Overton is out there and rushes forward, skidding in on his knees... it's just ahead of him and Wells is safe, but that knee slide would have looked good celebrating a late winner in the football.

Garton finishes off with a bouncer and Wells top-edges attempting the pull - the ball flies over the keeper and runs away for four.

Tim David will not want to watch this back.

An absolute shocker from the overseas star.

  11. Fire 34-1published at 80 balls left

    Tymal Mills enters the attack.

He bounces Wells and the ball raps the bottom of his bat as he hurries through the shot. That must have jarred.

Four from that set, a tidy start for Mills.

  12. Postpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 4 August 2023

Southern Brave were in a lot of trouble at 76-8 but then Chris Jordan decided to have a day out.

The England bowler whacked an unbeaten 70 off 32 balls to haul his side to 147-8.

    Enjoy six of his sixes.

  13. Fire 30-1published at 85 balls left

Eskinazi brings his bat through rapidly, pulling through mid-wicket for a boundary.

Luke Wells steps back to give himself plenty of room, he powers Overton through the covers for four more.

  14. Fire 20-1published at 90 balls left

Wells takes a single from the final ball of the set to retain the strike.

  15. How's stat?!published at 20:11 British Summer Time 4 August 2023

    Stephen EskinaziImage source, ECB

Hmmmm. Stephen Eskinazi struggles against leg-spin bowling.

He only averages 17.66 and has been dismissed nine times in 126 balls against that style of bowling.

Will James Vince gamble and go to Rehan Ahmed in the powerplay?

  16. 6 runs

Fire 19-1published at 93 balls left

Luke Wells wants some of the six action - he lifts new bowler George Garton over square leg for a maximum.

Have the trains stopped down here or something? Is there a train strike?

    What a set!

  18. 6 runs

Fire 12-1published at 95 balls left

    Hello to you, Stevie Eskinazi!

He enters the game by ramping Overton for six.

That was an absolute peach of a ball.

There wasn't a lot Joe Clarke could have done about it to be honest.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 96 balls left

    Clarke c Conway b Overton 0 (Fire 6-1)

    It's all going on!

Overton sends down a wide that flies away for five runs but he follows up with a wicket!

We said Clarke was weak when the ball moved away, and so it goes here - he clips behind to Devon Conway.
