We'll be bringing you live text commentary and clips of both those games.

Manchester Originals captain Jos Buttler on Sky Sports: "Really good performance. Fielding could do with a bit of work! But we read the pitch well. It wasn't straightforward but we adapted well and that allowed us to finish strong.

"We thought anything more than 150 would be a good total.

"With the ball, we knew that bowling just back of a length would be important and Richard Gleeson started really well with some good pace and swing too.

"We've kept a lot of players from our squad last year and I feel like we've got a lot of bases covered. We've got so many all-rounders and that's a real positive for us."

Originals then put in a fantastic shift with the ball and they look like a unit that have all bases covered.

Tom Hartley took 3-13, two each for Richard Gleeson, Josh Little and Usama Mir, and one for Paul Walter.

It was always going to be a tough chase for Phoenix on a tricky pitch.

Liam Livingstone gave them hope with some big hits, but his dismissal for 27 all but sealed victory for the Originals.

A fine all-round performance from Usama Mir, who smashed 32 from 14 balls to set up Manchester Originals' 160-8, and then took two wickets with the ball.

He'll want to forget the two dropped catches, though!

Match Hero Usama Mir on Sky Sports: "I am very happy with this performance. I have been working really hard on my batting so I was very happy to back myself and show everyone my skills today.

"It was quite tricky to bat on so I just knew I had to play proper shots and get myself in.

"With the ball, I tried to mix it up with some quicker and some slower. It was quite two-paced so that worked well to unsettle the batters.

"The rain has been annoying! So this is my first performance in The Hundred and it has been good fun. This is one of my favourite grounds so it's a very special feeling to be here."

So that win takes Manchester Originals up to second in the table, with one win, one loss and one washout.

Birmingham Phoenix slip down to seventh with one defeat and two no results.

  8. Manchester Originals win by 49 runspublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

Josh Little bowls Adam Milne, taking off stump out the ground, and that wraps up a comprehensive victory for Manchester Originals.

Birmingham Phoenix are all out for 111.

  9. 6 runs

Phoenix 109-9published at 5 balls left

Not a bad shot for number 11!

Kane Richardson smacks one into the stands for a bit of late, but ultimately hopeless, fun for Birmingham Phoenix.

They need 52 from five balls. I think Originals have got this one.

  10. dropped catch

Milne dropped on 9published at 10 balls left

    Phoenix 100-9

Well, Originals have bowled nicely but their fielding has been pretty poor.

The game should be done and dusted, as Adam Milne heaves one out to deep square leg, but Max Holden spills it.

Never easy catching under lights but it was straight to him.

  11. wicket

    Helm c & b Hartley 2 (Phoenix 96-9)

    Another!

Tom Helm chips one straight back to Tom Hartley and Originals are one wicket away.

Hartley finishes a fine evening's work with 3-13. Great performance.

It's been a fine performance with the ball from Manchester Originals.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19 balls left

    Howell c Salt b Hartley 9 (Phoenix 94-8)

Originals are almost there, as Benny Howell holes out to Phil Salt on the boundary.

Can't blame the lower order batters at all here. They might as well have a swing, because the equation is against them.

  14. Phoenix 93-7published at 20 balls left

    Target 161

Wow! A special, special effort in the field from Jamie Overton.

Benny Howell smashes one straight down the ground, and times his jump on the boundary perfectly to retrieve the ball mid-air, and throw it to safety before he lands on the ground.

He's not able to complete the catch but it saves a certain six.

Usama Mir finishes with 2-27 from his 20 balls.

  15. Phoenix 87-7published at 25 balls left

    Target 161

Benny Howell and Adam Milne are swinging for everything, but getting nowhere.

Originals are all over it now.

  16. Phoenix 84-7published at 30 balls left

    Target 161

Usama Mir rattles through his next five balls as it's over to the Birmingham Phoenix bowlers now.

    84 from 30 balls required.

  17. Postpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

None of the Phoenix batters have really been able to get going during this innings so far.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 36 balls left

    Livingstone c & b Hartley 27 (Phoenix 81-7)

    Is that the game?

Liam Livingstone tries to kick on, but can only heave the ball high in the air.

Bowler Tom Hartley calls for it, steadies himself under a swirling ball and just about clings on at the second attempt.

Great catch, and a huge wicket.

  19. Phoenix 78-6published at 40 balls left

    Target 161

Benny Howell can bat, but Liam Livingstone is definitely the last recognised batter now.

It's a tough equation and he's probably going to have to do most of it by himself.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 44 balls left

    Shadab c Little b Mir 4 (Phoenix 77-6)

    Trouble. Real trouble.

Shadab Khan slog sweeps into the leg side and Josh Little takes a smart running catch on the boundary.

The ball before, Shadab played an almost identical shot that calamitously landed between both Little and Phil Salt on the boundary - so Little gives his team-mate a wry smile as he takes this one cleanly!
