  1. Originals 105-5published at 75 balls

I am still looking at the replay of the Buttler dismissal and it is very, very tight. I don't think many people would have complained if it had been given the other way.

After all that drama Jamie Overton has joined Paul Walter in the middle.

This match has swung one way and then the other.

Buttler run out (Moeen) 43 (Originals 96-5)

Oh wow, Buttler is given out!

Buttler's bat was over the crease but crucially was in the air when the ball hit the stumps.

Buttler has a word with the umpire as he trudges off. He isn't happy.

The crowd aren't either. Boos ring around Old Trafford after they saw the replay on the big screen.

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 67 balls

Is Jos Buttler run out here?

It is Moeen Ali with a brilliant direct hit from extra cover as Buttler dives to make his ground.

    The umpire sends it upstairs.

Benny Howell has been the pick of the bowlers so far. Expect him to bowl his full quota of 20 balls.

Not a bad way to introduce yourself to the match.

New batter Paul Walter pulls a short ball from Tom Helm and sends the ball flying over deep fine leg for six!

    Walter absolutely nailed that.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 62 balls

    Turner c Smith b Helm 21 (Originals 87-4)

The short ball does for Ashton Turner.

Tom Helm follows the Originals batter as he attempted to give himself some room and he can only lob the ball up to the wicketkeeper for a routine catch.

  7. Originals 86-3published at 60 balls

There's a brief break in play after Jos Buttler attempts a sweep off Shadab Khan and the ball top-edges straight into his helmet.

Buttler is fine after a concussion check and his helmet is in working order, too.

When play resumes Ashton Turner goes for a sweep and the ball flies just over the outstretched hand of Moeen Ali and flies over the rope for four.

Moeen was not far away from that, you know.

Shadab ends with figures of 0-39 from his 20 balls.

  8. Originals 77-3published at 55 balls

Benny Howell has bowled superbly, taking 2-9 from his 10 balls so far.

Originals are happy to play some risk-free shots from his bowling and seek boundaries at the other end.

  9. How's stat?!published at 19:06 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

Manchester Originals will be hoping that Ashton Turner can stick around until the end - the Australian has a career strike rate of of 162.5 in the death overs.

It gets even worse for Shadab Khan as Ashton Turner heaves the ball into the crowd for a huge six.

Shadab has gone for 30 from his 15 balls so far.

  11. Originals 63-3published at 46 balls

Shadab Khan puts his hands on his hips in exasperation as Ashton Turner nonchalantly reverse-sweeps away for four.

    That was a brilliant shot.

  12. Originals 58-3published at 43 balls

As long as Jos Buttler is there Manchester Originals have a great chance of getting a big score.

Shadab Khan offers him some width and Buttler gleefully cuts away for four to move to 33 from 22 balls.

  13. Originals 51-3published at 38 balls

No hat-trick for Howell, Ashton Turner pushes the ball into the off side for a single.

Still, those two wickets have dragged the game Phoenix's way just as the Originals were getting on top.

Ashton Turner is the new batter and will face the hat-trick ball from Benny Howell.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 38 balls

    Holden b Howell 0 (Originals 49-2)

Max Holden is bowled first ball - Benny Howell is on a hat-trick!

Holden attempted the reverse-sweep but makes a bit of a mess of it and the ball clatters into the stumps.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 37 balls

    Evans c Helm b Howell 21 (Originals 50-2)

    Laurie Evans goes!

He attempts the scoop shot again but does not quite time it and Tom Helm, can run around from fine leg to take the catch.

  17. Originals 49-1published at 35 balls

In the air but safe! Jos Buttler skies one into the off side, but it lands safely between two converging fielders.

The next ball is brutally hammered back over the bowler's head for four.

After a quiet start Buttler has raced on to 25 from 17 balls.

  18. Originals 38-1published at 30 balls

That six from Laurie Evans was so big in landed onto the music stage just to the left of the old pavilion.

Time to see some spin for the first time in this game as Shadab Khan comes into the attack.

Spin dominated the earlier game, will we see the same here?

  19. 6 runs

    Originals 32-1published at 26 balls

Laurie Evans tries exactly the same shot an absolutely nails the ball for six.

That's how you do it, Jos!

  20. Originals 26-1published at 25 balls

Jos Buttler has a dazzling array of shots in his armoury and he attempts one of his more spectacular ones - the premeditated scoop - but cannot get anything on the ball.

A moral victory for bowler Kane Richardson, who has conceded just five runs from his 10 balls so far.
