  1. Fire 17-0published at 10 balls

Another no-ball from Issy Wong - this time for a full toss that is over waist-height.

That means another free hit but again Wong gets herself out of trouble, drawing another play and miss from Tammy Beaumont.

It was a well-executed slower ball to deceive the Fire batter.

  2. Fire 15-0published at 9 balls

Much better from Issy Wong after that wide to start... well, it was until she oversteps for a no-ball.

Free hit for Tammy Beaumont, she swings hard but misses as Wong fires it in wide of off stump.

  3. Fire 11-0published at 5 balls

Issy Wong is into the attack but starts with a leg-side wide that Amy Jones can only half-stop, allowing the batters to run a couple more.

You're not going to get away with a full toss to Tammy Beaumont very often.

  5. Fire 8-0published at 5 balls

    Four more!

Another full toss from Sophie Devine and Tammy Beaumont thumps it away to the boundary cushion.

That was a freebie for the England batter.

  6. Fire 4-0published at 3 balls

Welsh Fire are away with a boundary!

Tammy Beuamont advances to Sophie Devine, turning the ball into a full toss and turning it through the leg side for four.

  7. Fire 0-0published at Ball 1

Full, swinging delivery from Sophie Devine to start for Birmingham Phoenix. Tammy Beaumont crunches the drive but it's straight to the cover fielder.

The fireworks have gone off, the yellow and pink smoke is blowing across the ground and the Birmingham Phoenix players are heading towards the middle.

Welsh Fire openers Tammy Beaumont and Hayley Matthews are not far behind. We're almost ready for the off...

Oval Invincibles' Spencer Johnson took three wickets for just one run in his 20 balls on debut last night.

Surely those figures won't be bettered this season? I'm sure plenty will be giving it a good go this afternoon, though...

Cross said: "It’s a huge honour to be appointed to the Lancashire Cricket Foundation Board of directors.

“The foundation is a fantastic charity, which I’ve seen first-hand over the past 10 years as an ambassador, and I’m excited to see what we can continue to achieve together to make a real difference to people’s lives.

“Having come through the system at Heywood Cricket Club, I’m hugely passionate about the growth and development of grassroots cricket and that we get as many young girls and boys as possible involved in the game.

“I’m looking forward to working with the wider Lancashire Cricket Foundation team in the coming years, to ensure we inspire the next generation of cricketers across the North West and beyond.”

Tammy Beaumont calls wrong at the toss and Eve Jones decides to bowl first.

She says that the Phoenix just want to change it up after batting first twice and that not going as they'd have liked.

One change from them: Sterre Kalis replaces Charis Pavely. Fire are unchanged.

    Another day, another Hundred double-header!

Edgbaston plays host as Birmingham Phoenix take on Welsh Fire and the women's game is up first.

After struggling for the past two years, the Fire have made a great start and victory today would send them top of the table.

It's a different story for the Phoenix. They're still searching for their first win of 2023 after two defeats and a washout.
