    Wyatt b Arlott 43 (Brave 84-1)

    Brilliant slower ball!

Danni Wyatt was attacking every ball so Emily Arlott changes it up with a delivery out of the back of the hand.

Wyatt tries to adjust but too late and the ball hits the top of off. Breakthrough for the Phoenix.

It's looking dangerous for the Phoenix. Both batters are going up a gear.

    So unlucky.

Bottom of the table, hard luck with injuries and these things just keep happening for the Birmingham Phoenix.

There was no control in the shot and it could've easily been out.

  4. Brave 81-0published at 56 balls

Emily Arlott starts with a short ball, Smriti Mandhana has a big swing at it and gets a thick edge.

The ball could go anywhere but such is the way things are going for the Phoenix at the moment, it balloons over the short third fielder and away for four.

  5. Brave 77-0published at 55 balls

Danni Wyatt swings the ball over the leg side but has to settle for two as the fielder gets around to prevent the boundary.

The boundaries square look pretty big at the Ageas Bowl today.

This is a tough job for Hannah Baker. Leg-spin is the toughest job in cricket but she's got to contend with the left and right-handed combination between the batters so she's got to be on it every ball.

  7. Brave 73-0published at 52 balls

Top class from Smriti Mandhana, skipping down to meet Hannah Baker's delivery on the full and threading the ball through the in-field for four.

A very dismissive shot from Danni Wyatt.

  9. Brave 68-0published at 50 balls

    Wyatt 37, Mandhana 22

Four more for the Brave but not far away from a wicket for Abtaha Maqsood!

Danni Wyatt goes over mid-on, more of a whip than a straight-bat shot, and the ball only just clears the leaping fielder.

A few nerves from Maqsood first up. When you've been waiting a while for your first game, you just hope you pitch the first one.

It's easy pickings for Smriti Mandhana.

  11. Brave 62-0published at 46 balls

Full toss to start from Abtaha Maqsood and Smriti Mandhana isn't missing out.

Driven firmly through the covers for four.

  12. Brave 58-0published at 45 balls

Erin Burns is back and rattles through another good five.

She's still getting plenty of turn to keep the batters on their toes.

This is an opening partnership that you have got to break early otherwise they will really hurt you.

  14. Brave 55-0published at 40 balls

Different leg-spinner - it's Hannah Baker this time - but same shot and same result from Smriti Mandhana.

Back down the ground, she gets more of this one but still not enough to find the boundary.

Danni Wyatt can, though, pouncing on some width to cut away for four.

Katie Levick is a smart bowler but she's a bit slower than the other spinners in this side so I'd be looking to sweep her.

  16. Brave 48-0published at 35 balls

Smriti Mandhana tries to get after Katie Levick and skips down to the last ball.

She hits back over the bowler's head but without much timing and it bounces well short of the rope. Just a single.

  17. Brave 46-0published at 32 balls

    Clever batting from Danni Wyatt.

She gets into position early and paddle-sweeps fine. Four runs.

  18. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 16 August 2023

Time for the first of the three Phoenix leg-spinners to have a bowl. Leading wicket-taker in the women's tournament, Katie Levick is into the attack...

  19. Brave 41-0published at 30 balls

More significant turn for Erin Burns to end the over.

Danni Wyatt had backed away to give herself room to hit through the off side but the ball spun back a long way to cramp her.

Genuine turn there from Erin Burns. That might explain the inclusion of so many spinners for Phoenix.
