  1. Rockets 18-1published at 85 balls left

    Target 182

Josh Tongue is bowling beautifully here.

Joe Root drives him Test match-style for four, before again attempting the scoop but he's beaten for pace.

But every run that Root scores is greeted by a huge roar from the crowd, who have woken up a bit after their silencing by Phil Salt earlier.

  2. Rockets 12-1published at 90 balls left

    Target 182

Cries of 'Rooooooot' echo around Trent Bridge as he doesn't take long to unveil his trademark reverse scoop off the pace of Jamie Overton.

It's slightly underwhelming in the fact that it goes for four rather than six, but it's always a delight to see.

It's not easy to find weaknesses in Joe Root's game.

His lowest average against a bowling type is left-arm spin at 30.44.

Could we get an early look at Tom Hartley? It comes with a risk because of the small boundaries at Trent Bridge.

  4. Rockets 5-1published at 95 balls left

    Target 182

A couple of perfect yorkers from Tongue, followed by a short ball that Tom Kohler-Cadmore pulls for four.

A hugely significant breakthrough for the Originals.

    Hales c Buttler b Tongue 0 (Rockets 1-1)

    Wow!

What a start! That is an absolute beauty from Josh Tongue.

He starts with a wide to gift Rockets their first run but quickly corrects himself with an unplayable delivery that nips off the pitch and takes Hales' outside edge.

The perfect start to Originals' defence.

Rockets' bowlers fought back so well by taking the pace off the ball - so you'd assume the Originals have learned from that.

It'll be Josh Tongue starting things with the ball, and he's bowling to Alex Hales.

Joe Root is indeed at the other end.

    Thanks, Sam.

We're just a few minutes away from the start of Trent Rockets' chase.

Considering that the Originals had scored 112 from just 45 balls, I think the Rockets will be weirdly happy at the halfway mark.

Remember, there is no Dawid Malan in their line-up today. We're expecting Joe Root at the top of the order with Alex Hales instead.

After all that excitement, the game is set up perfectly ahead of the Rockets chase.

Both teams are desperate for the win to boost their top three hopes. To find who will be celebrating at the end, it's over to Ffion Wynne.

  9. 'It was definitely due'published at 19:47 British Summer Time 17 August 2023

Manchester Originals' Phil Salt to Sky Sports: "It was definitely due. You know what it's like at the top of the order, sometimes you can be playing well but finding a way to get out. That has been the way for quite a lot of guys at the top of the order in this tournament, the ball has been doing a little more.

"It looked a lot harder from the side towards the end when they took the pace off. That is something we've done quite well over our last few games so hopefully it works for us.

"I think that chase will be hard but Trent Bridge is a good place to bat, especially with us on one of the international wickets. We know they are coming to come out hard so we'll have to be on it with the ball."

That was a very odd innings. It started with the incredible hitting of Phil Salt.

He smashed 12 fours and five sixes in a staggering knock of 86 from 32 balls.

Manchester Originals were 112-2 from 45 balls when he departed. They were 69-4 from the next 55 balls.

  11. Originals 181-6published at 100 balls

Paul Walter throws his head back in disgust as a bouncer from Luke Wood, that appeared to go down the leg side is not called wide.

I think Walter is right to be aggrieved but that is the end of the innings - a real innings of two halves.

  12. Originals 181-6published at 99 balls

The first wide of the innings extends it by a ball and adds a run to the Originals total.

  13. Originals 180-6published at 99 balls

Direct hit from Sam Hain from the deep but Usama Mir was comfortably back for the second in the end.

And two more from the next, good running from Paul Walter.

    J Overton b Wood 11 (Originals 175-6)

Bowled by a slower ball! How many times have we seen that in this innings?

Jamie Overton seemed to try and wait for it but was still through the shot far too early.

    Excellent bowling from Luke Wood.

  15. Originals 175-5published at 95 balls

Good ball to finish from Daniel Sams, a slower one that completely bamboozles Jamie Overton.

The batter wants a wide called but I think it was just inside the line. Five ball to go...

  16. Originals 175-5published at 94 balls

Walloped to cow corner for four by Jamie Overton!

That was in the slot from Daniel Sams and the fielders out there couldn't pick it up with the sun in their eyes.

  17. Originals 170-5published at 92 balls

That's a rarity in this format - a three! Jamie Overton carves the ball through point and after Luke Wood doesn't collect it cleanly, the batters sprint back for a third.

  18. Originals 166-5published at 90 balls

Width from Lewis Gregory and Paul Walter thrashes it through the covers for four.

A rare boundary in the last 20 minutes or so.

  19. Originals 158-5published at 85 balls

Fantastic set of five from Luke Wood. Just five runs from it and four of those came via the inside edge of Paul Walter.

The Originals have really been pegged back. At one stage, 200 looked the absolute minimum they'd get. They'd be delighted with that now.

  20. Postpublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 17 August 2023

Originals have now lost four wickets for 39 runs in 34 balls.

Here are three of those wickets.
