  1. Spirit 33-4published at 45 balls

Defended into the off side by Daryl Mitchell and he calls Ravi Bopara through for a quick single.

Stevie Eskinazi swoops and has a shy at the stumps. Just one to aim at and he's off target.

Bopara was out with a direct hit.

  2. Spirit 32-4published at 44 balls

We've got a delay as Daryl Mitchell is rapped on the glove by his fellow New Zealander Lockie Ferguson.

It was a bouncer and Mitchell mistimed the pull shot.

The magic spray comes out with the physio and Mitchell is OK to continue.

No-ball from Lockie Ferguson but minimal damage done as Daryl Mitchell is caught at long on from the free hit - a full toss - and just a single comes from it.

Missed opportunity for Mitchell. Any delivery that takes the pitch out of the equation is one to be cherished for Spirit. When it's a free hit, even more so.

  4. Spirit 28-4published at 40 balls

London Spirit are still really struggling. Consistently timing the ball has proven impossible so far, even occasionally timing it has been tricky enough.

Three more dot balls in that David Payne set.

It hasn't been a successful night for England batters so far.

Here's how Dan Lawrence was dismissed for a two-ball duck.

  6. Spirit 27-4published at 36 balls

Four! A much-needed boundary for London Spirit as Daryl Mitchell hits high over mid-off. One bounce and over the rope.

Mitchell didn't get all of it and ended up playing it one-handed but the runs are all that count. Especially given how this innings is going.

  7. Spirit 23-4published at 35 balls

Alex Wharf is fine to carry on, although I'd imagine he'll have quite an impressive egg on his forearm tomorrow.

Just two from Lockie Ferguson's first five.

  8. ouch!

    Spirit 21-4published at 32 balls

Ouch! Daryl Mitchell hammers a drive back off Lockie Ferguson and umpire Alex Wharf can't get out of the way in time.

It hits him on the arm as he tries to move out of the ball's path.

The players quickly check on him but thankfully he seems to be OK.

With that established, Mitchell might be quite frustration. He has been denied a certain boundary. He nailed that.

Here's how England white-ball bowler David Willey picked up the wicket of England Test opener Zak Crawley.

  10. Spirit 21-4published at 30 balls

Ravi Bopara is out to join Daryl Mitchell with Spirit in all sorts of trouble.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 28 balls

    Rossington c Abell b Henry 2 (Spirit 19-4)

Four down! London Spirit are crumbling here.

Adam Rossington opened for Spirit but faced only three balls in the powerplay - in fact, when he last faced a ball, the visitors hadn't lost a wicket.

He tries to muscle this ball from Matt Henry over the off side, completely mistimes it and Tom Abell runs back from cover to take the catch as the ball drops over his shoulder.

  12. Spirit 18-3published at 25 balls

Daryl Mitchell aims a shot over the top and doesn't get hold of it. The ball loops up and, thankfully for Spirit, just over the in-field and they scamper back for two.

A very impressive powerplay for Welsh Fire.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 22 balls

    Wade c Clarke b Willey 11 (Spirit 16-3)

Attempted ramp but Matthew Wade just tickles it into the gloves of Joe Clarke!

London Spirit are in real trouble with three balls left in the powerplay.

Wade's intent was to put pressure back on the bowlers, he hit a couple of boundaries but his departure puts the visitors firmly under the cosh.

David Willey has a second wicket - he's been unplayable at times!

  14. Spirit 12-2published at 20 balls

Risky single! A direct hit would have done for Adam Rossington.

What an eventful start at Sophia Gardens - even though we've had very few runs!

  15. Not outpublished at 19 balls

    Spirit 11-2

The bat was nowhere near the ball, I've got no idea what the fielders and the umpire heard.

Maybe they just thought a ball that good deserved a wicket?!

It really bounced and nipped away from the left-handed Matthew Wade.

  16. Spirit reviewpublished at 19 balls

What a response from Matt Henry - a snorter to Matthew Wade and it's given out caught behind.

    Reviewed instantly by Wade.

  17. 6 runs

    Spirit 11-2published at 18 balls

Ramped for six by Matthew Wade!

That more than doubles Spirit's total.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16 balls

    Lawrence c Abell b Henry 0 (Spirit 5-2)

Chipped tamely to cover! It's a second ball duck for Dan Lawrence.

The Spirit captain attempts to hit up and over cover but gets the timing all wrong and the ball goes gently to Tom Abell for a simple catch.

Matt Henry has his first wicket in his first Hundred appearance of the year.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14 balls

    Crawley c Clarke b Willey 2 (Spirit 5-1)

The end of a painful innings from Zak Crawley.

He just couldn't get going at all and departs for two from 11 balls after gloving down the leg side to Joe Clarke.

Crawley was down on one knee trying to sweep but the ball flicked his glove and went off his body and behind to the wicketkeeper.

  20. Spirit 4-0published at 10 balls

It's been a very nervy start from London Spirit.

A single brings Adam Rossington on strike and he skips down to Matt Henry but swings and misses.

An outside edge ends the set with gasps from the crowd as the ball is just wide of slip. Just a single.
