  1. NZ 19-1published at 3 overs

    Target 227

Will Young looked in decent touch on Friday and he's started well here.

This is a case of beauty and the ugly though.

Young plays two gorgeous drives through the covers and back down the ground for four, before a streaky inside edge goes past the stumps and fine for four.

  3. NZ 5-1published at 2 overs

    Target 227

I'm reliably informed by Mike Peter, who is a big fan, that Will Young had a song called "Let it Go". It charted at 58 in the UK.

The New Zealand batter does that twice before stealing a quick single into mid-wicket.

Devon Conway doesn't want to leave though, attempting a big booming drive, but missing. Oohs and aahs from the fielders.

    Lovely start from David Willey.

Will Young is the new batter by the way. He's off the mark with a guide down to deep third.

If New Zealand are going to use Finn Allen he needs to straighten his game up. Too late for him now. That's a shot you should be hitting as an opener. That's not a great in-swinging delivery. Anyone who moves the ball to Finn Allen, particularly back in, is in with a chance.

Middle stumps rocked back, bails missing, high fives for David Willey!

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.2 overs

    Allen b Willey 0 (NZ 0-1)

    Gone second ball though!

David Willey again beats Finn Allen on the inside, but this time it cannons into middle stump. Willey lets out a huge roar and fist pump in celebration.

Allen is rehearsing keeping his bat in a straight line on the way off. Bit late now.

  9. Not outpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

It does hit the trousers and Finn Allen survives.

England burn one of their two reviews.

I think this may flick the pocket of Finn Allen's trousers.

  11. England reviewpublished at 0.1 overs

David Willey opens up for England and there's a review for caught behind or lbw against Finn Allen first ball.

The left-arm of Willey cut Allen in half but did it hit the bat?

The players are making their way back out to the middle for the chase.

That gives you just enough time to watch Liam Livingstone's best shots.

    Thanks Jonty.

Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran have ensured we've got a game on our hands.

The sun is now shining over the Ageas Bowl too so we, fingers crossed, should have no more interruptions from the weather.

    That's all from me.

With New Zealand about to come out to bat, I will hand you over to Callum Matthews, who will be bringing you updates of their chase, with England setting them 227 to win.

Elsewhere today, Zak Crawley, who will be captaining England in this month's three-match ODI series against Ireland, has scored 158 today for Kent in the County Championship.

You can read all about that, and follow the rest of the updates from the County Championship in our live text page here.

Sam Curran was among those to impress with the bat later in the innings, scoring 42 before falling to Tim Southee in the final over.

It was a nightmare start for England, who found themselves 28-4 at one stage.

The top four of Bairstow, Brook, Root and Stokes scored a combined total of just nine runs...

  18. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 10 September 2023

It was a brilliant display of batting from Livingstone. It's a steady star but towards the end, he pulled out some of the shots we are used to seeing from him.

Livingstone's the third England player to make 95 not out batting at number seven. Chris Woakes and Sam Curran are the others.

Livingstone's previous high score in ODI cricket was 66 not out, so a very good day for him.
