    Moeen c Phillips b Ferguson 12 (England 360-7)

The next ball, Phillips does take the catch, albeit a much easier one.

England are just trying to give it a whack as this innings draws to a close.

Up next is Chris Woakes, who certainly has a few shots up his slevve.

  2. Eng 360-6published at 45.4 overs

Almost a stunning grab from Glenn Phillips.

His superman dive on the boundary just falls short of Moeen's pull shot, which goes for four.

  3. Eng 355-6published at 45 overs

Moeen Ali gets his first boundary, lifting that over backward point and to the rope.

Moeen then drove the final ball of the over brilliantly, but it was stopped for two by Mitchell.

Ben Stokes has treated the crowd to a tremendous innings. He fell on his sword, going for another six.

It is a job well done.

    Sam Curran, follow that.

Some relief from New Zealand in the closing overs.

Everybody stands up around The Oval to applaud Ben Stokes. He gets a huge cheer as he walks off.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 44.3 overs

    Stokes c Young b Lister 182 (England 348-6)

    The Stokes show is over!

It has been a brilliant and historic innings from Stokes. He continued to try and go big again but found himself caught at deep square leg by Will Young.

Sam Curran is next in to bat.

    There's the record!

It went extremely high. It went almost as high as it did long.

    What an achievement that is.

  8. Eng 348-5published at 44.1 overs

Stokes breaks England's record with a six!

Lister bowls at him and Stokes thumps it back over his head and it loops up into the crowd.

That shot takes him to 182, making history for the highest ever individual score in an ODI by an England player.

    What a knock!

  9. Eng 342-5published at 44 overs

Another fairly tidy over from Ferguson who goes for just six and almost saw Moeen ran out.

Six overs to go and England are 66 short of matching their best score against New Zealand.

Stokes is on strike on 176*...

  10. Eng 338-5published at 43.2 overs

    Moeen is fortunate...

He and Stokes attempt to run a quick single but Moeen was nowhere near his crease as Nicholls tried to run him out at the non-striker's end.

Had that hit the stumps, he would've comfortably been out.

It has been a brilliant day for England so far, and a tough one for New Zealand.

Jos Buttler called for more positivity from his batting line-up and he's certainly got that today.

Ben Stokes is now second, and only behind Jason Roy's 180 on England's highest men's ODI individual score list.

  13. Eng 336-5published at 43 overs

Almost a first-baller for Moeen, a full and straight delivery from Lister almost gives him two wickets in as many balls.

Ben Stokes will be on strike for the next over, chasing England history.

That was all very, very odd.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 42.5 overs

    Livingstone c Nicholls b Lister 11 (England 336-5)

It was straight off the bat! Livingstone goes and England are five down. A very unusual dismissal but the review pays off for the Black Caps.

Moeen Ali comes in to partner Stokes for the final 7.1 overs.

Everyone, but New Zealand, thought this was a crowd catch.

  17. Umpire reviewpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 13 September 2023

Livingstone was caught but it was not signalled, with uncertainties over whether the delivery hit the pitch after Livingstone's bat or the other way round. New Zealand have taken a look at it.

That is horrible. A knee-high full toss to Ben Stokes on 166 is only going to go one way.

  19. 6 runs

    Eng 335-4published at 42.2 overs

    Another six from Ben Stokes!

A poor delivery from Lister, a full toss which Stokes dispatched down the leg side, moving him to 172 runs off just 115 deliveries.

Stokes and England are flying here.

  20. Eng 328-4published at 42 overs

England score 14 off that over, with Stokes hitting Ferguson for two sixes in it.

Lister is coming back in to bowl on what is just his second ODI outing for New Zealand.
