Dutt needs to be brave and give it a bit of flight. If Klaasen goes in half-heartedly, it should give the Dutch an easy wicket.

  2. SA 80-4published at 17 overs

Aryan Dutt returns to the Netherlands attack, delivering a tight over until the final ball when he drops short and Klaasen smacks him through the covers for four.

The South African batter has a run-a-ball 22.

High, long and over the boundary for six. It went about 10 rows back! Now, that, is an extraordinary shot.

    SA 72-4published at 15.5 overs

A first boundary for David Miller!

He absolutely clouts Roelof van der Merwe down the ground for six - how often have we seen him play that shot?

  6. SA 63-4published at 15 overs

Heinrich Klaasen shows a glimpse of his big hitting as he goes to smack van Meekeren through down the ground.

He doesn't quite get hold of it and it would be an easy catch for long on... if there was one. The ball drops short of the boundary and then bounces over it.

The players will take drinks. A moment to regroup for the South African players - there'll be a few flabbergasted players out there.

We've got a real contest on our hands here. There was a little bit of ruling out the Netherlands, but the Dutch players have now turned it completely on its head.

  8. SA 55-4published at 14 overs

Roelof van der Merwe is a bundle of explosive energy - I think even if I were his friend I'd be slightly terrified of him.

He throws his hands in the air in despair as Klaasen fends off his penultimate delivery.

    Three singles off the over.

  9. History repeating itself?published at 16:20 British Summer Time 17 October 2023

Memories of 11 months ago could be creeping back into South African heads.

Back then at the Adelaide Oval in Australia the Netherlands stunned the Proteas to knock them out of the T20 World Cup.

Colin Ackermann top-scored with 41 as the Netherlands posted 158-4. In reply, South Africa lost regular wickets so could only reach 145-8, 13 runs short of their victory target.

  10. SA 52-4published at 13 overs

Paul van Meekeren is finding some extra zip! He scuds a ball off David Miller's helmet - the South African batter is fine to continue.

Heinrich Klaasen then brings up his side's half century, pulling hard through mid-wicket.

David Miller is going to be key. He's been a great player but can he do it under pressure?

  12. Ned 46-4published at 12 overs

David Miller enters the fray. Two big hitters at the crease now for South Africa, but will he and Klaasen play their natural game straight away?

The pair exchange a couple of singles.

What are we witnessing here! This could be one of the greatest days ever in the Netherland's cricket. I don't know where to look at the moment.

Van der Dussen c Dutt b van der Merwe 4 (SA 44-4)

Roelof van der Merwe has another wicket!

Dumb, dumb shot from Rassie van der Dussen, reverse sweeping right into the hands of Dutt at backward point.

The Dutch all-rounder roars in delight. He's pumped, I'm pumped, the South African dug-out probably isn't.

It's as if those bails want the Netherlands to win. They're drawing them in.

  16. SA 43-3published at 11 overs

Heinrich Klaasen is next in for South Africa. He loves a big hit but may have to do a bit of a rebuilding job here.

Van Meekeren beats his bat with a jaffa before a single comes with a push into the covers.

That is a massive, massive wicket. What are we about to see here?

Put runs on the board and your bowlers can step up.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.2 overs

    Markram b van Meekeren 1 (SA 42-3)

Another one! Is this a return to the South Africa of old?

Aiden Markram can forget about a fast century today, he's walking off with only a hundredth of that total.

He's beaten ends up by Paul van Meekeren, the ball clipping the top of off stump and sending the flash bails flying.
