  1. Pak 40-0published at 6 overs

    Target 368

There is some decent bounce and carry for Josh Hazlewood and that helps him go past Abdullah Shafique's outside edge twice in the over.

A maiden as Australia manage to slow Pakistan down after a strong start.

    Here comes Pat Cummins...

You felt the power of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh for Australia at the start but these two are doing it differently, with such grace and such class for Pakistan.

  4. Pak 40-0published at 5 overs

    Target 368

Brilliant timing from Imam-ul-Haq twice in the Mitchell Starc over.

On both occasions, Starc just strays onto the pads and Imam just flicks the ball leg side.

The first goes away through square leg, the next through mid-wicket. It's four each time.

Great start for Pakistan but they still have a long way to go.

  5. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 20 October 2023

Abdullah Shafique will be on strike to face Mitchell Starc at the start of the next over. The Pakistan opener unfurled a super cover drive off the same bowler a little earlier...

  6. Pak 28-0published at 4 overs

    Target 368

Beauty. Josh Hazlewood hits back with a superb delivery from round the wicket that nips away just a fraction from the left-handed Imam-ul-Haq and bounces that bit more too.

It beats the edge and Hazlewood ends the over with four dots on the trot.

Imam-ul-Haq has started brightly, making the most of what is clearly a lovely pitch to bat on...

That is delightful from Imam-ul-Haq. That is how you play the cut shot - high on your toes. The fielder at square cover had no chance - a beautiful shot.

  9. Pak 28-0published at 3.2 overs

    Target 368

Back-to-back boundaries for Imam-ul-Haq to start the over.

The first is a mistimed pull that just about dribbles to the rope but the next is flashed through point.

Brilliant timing and that was never being stopped.

  10. Pak 20-0published at 3 overs

    Target 368

    Four more!

Width again and Abdullah Shafique stretches for the ball, gets a thick outside edge and the ball beats the fielder at backward point and reaches the boundary in a flash.

That was elegant. Simply elegant from Abdullah Shafique. There's been some wafts from Shafique early on but that was the most poised shot and the one that has allowed him to hit Mitchell Starc for four.

  12. Pak 16-0published at 2.1 overs

    Target 368

    Shot!

Mitchell Starc doesn't get the swing he's after and ends up hanging the ball outside off stump for Abdullah Shafique to throw the bat at.

He does just that and smokes it through the covers for four.

  13. Pak 12-0published at 2 overs

    Target 368

Good comeback from Jos Hazlewood, finding a probing line and length to the left-hander and reeling off five dot balls in a row to Imam-ul-Haq.

I have enjoyed watching Imam-ul-Haq in this tournament so far. He's been solid with his intent to score at the top of the order for Pakistan.

  15. Pak 12-0published at 1.1 overs

    Target 368

Josh Hazlewood starts from the other end and Imam-ul-Haq drives on the up, through point and this time he does find the boundary.

Again, it wasn't middled, but the left-hander got enough on it to reach the sponge.

  16. Pak 8-0published at 1 over

    Target 368

After a change of boot, Mitchell Starc does begin to settle in on a better line.

Following a single for Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq drives the last ball of this extended over through the covers.

It's not out of the middle of the bat and Marnus Labuschagne chases it down before diving to flick the ball back just inside the boundary sponge. They run three.

  17. Pak 4-0published at 0.1 overs

    Target 368

Mitchell Starc has bowled five deliveries and four of them have swung down the leg side for wides.

The other hooped back to beat Abdullah Shafique's inside edge on the drive - there are still five more balls to bowl in the over.

  18. Pak 2-0published at 0.0 overs

    Target 368

A couple of bonus runs for Pakistan early in their chase as Mitchell Starc sends down two leg-side wides to start.

There is a bit of shape for the left-armer but he's not got the line right yet.

It's not an insurmountable total for Pakistan. They do still need a massive partnership and someone to get a big hundred. If they manage to get that you think Australia will rue their ability not to capitalise on such a platform.

    Thanks, Stephan.

The players are out and Pakistan have got a mammoth chase ahead of them.

Abdullah Shafique is on strike but he won't be facing Patman, it'll be Mitchell Starc to bowl the first over.
