Watching Mohammad Nabi bowl finger spin is a real art. He goes slower than most modern players.
Abdullah 38, Imam 17
Another metronomic Mohammad Nabi over concludes the powerplay, just two runs from it.
However, with both openers unbeaten, Pakistan win the early battle and it looks like it was a good toss for Babar Azam to win.

You want each team to feel as loved as possible in a World Cup and we have that here today. Afghanistan v Pakistan, they don't need any more motivation than that. It is great to see supporters cheering on their heroes.

When the sun comes out, it becomes very difficult to breathe out there. When you get cloud cover, it is pretty comfortable but it is very hot.
Pakistan have struggled in the past with their openers, but this is a good sign.
Afghanistan turn back to pace, with Azmatullah Omarzai, and it does succeed in dragging back a bit of control after the previous expensive over.
Just three singles from it, but Pakistan's openers are looking pretty comfortable.
Prior to the start of this World Cup, Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq averaged 50.44 in ODI cricket. However, his average against spin is significantly lower than it is against pace.
Against spin, prior to the start of this World Cup, it was 41.57, compared to 59.27 against pace.
With Afghanistan naming four spinners in their side today, it could prove to be problematic for Imam.

That's 10 runs for Shafique from just one bit of calculated risk and intent.
Abdullah 35, Imam 15
Mujeeb goes a little wider after that straight six but Shafique is equal to it, threading it through the covers for another boundary.
Afghanistan are in a pickle as Pakistan race to 50 in eight overs.

Shafique is so classy though, isn't he? It's just really well-timed. A nice drive.
And on that note, there's another.
A skip down the track, and gloriously lofted over the top by Abdullah Shafique.
He holds the pose too, in admiration of his own work.
There is decent support for both teams out there, and the crowd certainly picked up after Abdullah Shafique's first six of the day.
Here's more spin in the form of Mohammad Nabi.
Big test for Afghanistan, this. They rely heavily on their spinners wearing teams down and getting wickets through frustration, but Pakistan have got plenty of good players of spin.
He starts well though, just a single from the over.

Imam is a quality player, that is a nice cut. He is one of those great players of spin.
They're motoring now.
An expensive over from Mujeeb costs 12 runs, with Imam threading four past point and Abdullah sweeping the last ball to the ropes.

For Pakistan to come out on top in this tournament, they need one of these top four batters to make big scores.
Decent start from the Pakistan openers so far.
Good recovery from Naveen, just a single from the next three balls.
This Pakistan side is so wholesome. The rest of the players are delighted at that six, all cheering and high-fiving from the dugout.

That was dismissive. A cross seam delivery and if you drew that six and had to point on the bat where it hit, that was exactly in the middle.
First of the day!
Naveen bangs one in short and Abdullah absolutely launches it over square leg.
The previous ball was clipped nicely for four so this is an expensive over so far.
Can Naveen drag it back?
