That came from nowhere. It was a little show of intent from Litton Das.
Bangladesh bowled out for 233 to lose by 149 runs
Mahmudullah makes excellent 111 off as many balls to defy South Africa
South Africa post imposing 382-5 after late flurry

That came from nowhere. It was a little show of intent from Litton Das.
Target 383
Four more!
Lovely shot from Liton Das, skipping down the track to Lizaad Williams and whipping the ball up and over mid-on.
A good show of intent from the Bangladesh opener.

It doesn't quite sit right with me that you can score a century in the first innings and then sit and watch the second innings.
I know that Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag used to enjoy doing it, and despite Quinton de Kock being a fine player, it doesn't quite sit right with me.
Target 383
Superbly driven through point by Tanzid Hasan!
Just a bit of width on offer from Lizaad Williams and very full, allowing Tanzid to get his hands through it quickly to find the boundary.
Target 383
One more from the Marco Jansen over, that comes from a leg-side wide, as Liton Das maintains his boundary or nothing approach.
Bangladesh already need more than eight an over from here to pull off a World Cup record chase.

If I ever write a novel, all my characters will be named after the SA team. Markram is a brilliant name for a soldier or a spy
Steve in Kent
Target 383
After beating the bat again with a beauty, Marcos Jansen drops short to Liton Das and is pulled away behind square for four.
Das has eight from 14 balls now. Two boundaries and 12 dot balls in his innings so far. All or nothing.
Target 383
Good over from Lizaad Williams. No runs off the bat and only a pair of leg byes as Heinrich Klaasen fumbles after the ball flicks Tanzid Hasan's pad on its way down leg.
You're not the only one suggesting this, Jonny. I can't say I'm particularly sold on it myself but it's an option.
Perhaps the players would prefer it? I don't know. I'd imagine all options will be on the table when the ICC discuss the future of 50-over cricket after this tournament...

Why not do away with ODI cricket and introduce 2 innings T20 over the course of a day? You get the crash bang of T20 cricket but elongated with tactical nous over 2 innings.
Jonny, Glos
Target 383
After that five from the first ball, Marco Jansen recovers well and reels off five dot balls in a row to Liton Das.
There is a marginal wide call that goes the bowler's way, much to Das' disappointment. An extra ball and an extra run would be very welcome for Bangladesh.

The captain is about the only person you can't berate for that, unfortunately for Marco Jansen. It looked like he wanted to.

That is five for quite a tentative push into the covers.
He absolutely bisected the two fielders coming in and hurled it into the boundary.
Target 383
Buzzers!
It's a run out chance as Tanzid Hasan drops the ball into the covers and calls for a quick single.
Aiden Markram comes in and swoops but the stand-in skipper is off target with the throw and it goes perfectly between the two fielders backing up and away to the boundary.
Five handy runs for Bangladesh.
Target 383
Good ball to finish from Lizaad Williams, beating Liton Das on the outside edge as the Bangladesh opener played back.
It goes through to Heinrich Klaasen, keeping in place of Quinton de Kock, who is off the field. Presumably having a well-earned break after his superb 174 in the first innings.
Target 383
There is some swing for Lizaad Williams but in going for the magic ball, trying to swing the ball from middle and leg, the ball just drifts onto the pads and Liton Das flicks it away through mid-wicket for four.
Williams ends up in a heap on the floor having fallen over as he delivered the ball, Mark Wood-style.
Lungi Ngidi is missing today with a minor niggle so Lizaad Williams, playing just his second ODI, will take the new ball from the other end.
Target 383
Very good start from Marco Jansen and he beats Tanzid Hasan with an absolute beauty.
The ball pitches on middle and jags away from the left-hander to beat the edge, just missing off stump.
All at 86mph. Play that.

The problem with ODI cricket as a spectator is the 3-4 hour long innings without any break. Tests have 2 hour sessions and T20s have an innings break at about 2 hours too. This makes ODI feel plodding and tedious.

All of which means a big, big chase for Bangladesh.
The players are back out in Mumbai. South Africa can really boost their net run-rate with a hefty margin of victory but Bangladesh have got to give this a go to try and keep their top four hopes alive...
