  1. Ind 225-8published at 49 overs

Mark Wood, who already looks exhausted, races through his final over of the innings.

A wide blots his copybook slightly, but the rest of the over goes for just four singles, which is another mighty fine effort.

Chris Woakes to bowl the final over.

England are currently one over behind, so for the last over, they may have to bring one fielder in.

Paul Atkinson: Typical that we've practically played ourselves out of the tournament, yet give ourselves a good chance of beating the favourites...

Sash or Chicane: India probably have enough here (I don't back us to chase anything over 200) but it's good to see a bit of effort at long last.

Kumaran Ravendradas: I seriously hope Dawid Malan and Jonny Bairstow can learn from Rohit Sharma's innings. They need to play some old school cricket before unleashing.

England would've seen bowling first as a positive if they had been able to eek out as many wickets as they have at this stage. You still think that if they can get to 240, it might be a challenge to chase.

  5. Ind 220-8published at 48 overs

An off-cutter from Chris Woakes finds the leading edge off Jasprit Bumrah and the ball lands just short of Adil Rashid diving forward at gully.

Woakes was not happy with Rashid's effort there, he felt he could have done more to try and take that catch.

Six runs off the over in total. India would do very well to get to 250 from here.

  6. Ind 214-8published at 47 overs

Kuldeep Yadav is the new batter and he helps himself to a boundary with a lovely clip off his pads that sends the ball down fine to the rope.

David Willey ends with figures of 3-45. A top effort and one that perhaps sends a message after he missed out on an ECB central contract earlier this week.

Chris Woakes is back and will bowl the 48th over.

As Suryakumar hit that, it completely turned in his hand. David Willey punches the air. He has curious bowling figures, 3-39 off 9.2, but including a 18-run over.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 46.2 overs

    Suryakumar c Woakes b Willey 49 (Ind 208-8)

That is out though. Suryakumar Yadav departs one run short of a half-century.

He attempts to club David Willey back over his head on the half-volley, but it flashes off a thick outside edge and straight into the hands over Chris Woakes on the cover boundary.

I think 240 is a winning score on this pitch. It will be interesting to see how England bat on this wicket. Their theme of the World Cup to attack will come a cropper on this wicket if they cannot adjust and play old school ODI cricket.

    Vikas in Reading

It would be bitterly frustrating if India go on to lift this World Cup, and the only team who beat them were England.

    Lee in London

As someone who has watched every England game so far I refuse to get excited as this team is quite capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Jasprit Bumrah dropped on fourpublished at 45.5 overs

    Oh, Moeen.

Jasprit Bumrah top-edges the ball high into the dark Lucknow sky, Moeen Ali gets underneath it at long-off, but somehow spills the catch.

Jasprit Bumrah gets off the mark on his 13th ball.

  13. Ind 206-7published at 45.3 overs

A single moves Suryakumar Yadav to 49. Jasprit Bumrah then does really will to dig out a Mark Wood yorker and get the ball through the mid-wicket region for four.

    That livened the crowd up.

It was banged in halfway down, not full, not short and Yadav just waits to put that over the fence.

  15. 6 runs

    Ind 201-7published at 45.1 overs

Suryakumar Yadav could still do some damage here.

It is a half tracker from Mark Wood that Suryakumar helps on its way over the fine leg boundary for a six to bring up the India 200.

  16. How's stat?!published at 12:01 Greenwich Mean Time 29 October 2023

When batting first in a home World Cup match, India have never scored less than 247 in an innings.

Jasprit Bumrah has run a lot without scoring. He's run down the pitch a few times now before being sent back.

  18. Ind 195-7published at 45 overs

Suryakumar Yadav declines the single off David Willey's first ball. He will look to manage the strike from here on in.

He does run a single off the third delivery as Suryakumar Yadav sees out the rest of the over - another impressive one for England.

The dew already looks to be having an impact, with England drying the ball between deliveries. That will work in England's favour when they come out to bat later.

Six overs to go, normally you would be aiming for 10 runs but that would be some ask from here.

  20. Ind 194-7published at 44 overs

Jasprit Bumrah survives. He even begins to set off for a single off the final ball of the over, but Suryakumar Yadav politely sends him back.

We will have more seam at the other end as David Willey prepares to enter the fray.
