  1. 'I just want to keep batting'published at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023

South Africa centurion Quinton de Kock: "I'm feeling really good lately. It's nice that everything is coming together at an important time for us.

"I think they bowled really well up front, especially Boulty. I felt quite scratchy, I couldn't find my rhythm. I was getting a couple of mesages from the bench to bat through. I just want to keep batting, bat for longer. My career is coming down to a finish, I'm trying to bat as much as I can.

"I think if the wicket stays the same it will be good enough. But I think it does get better under lights here. 357 is always a good score, but we're playing against a really good team."

Brilliant. South Africa have got this method where they don't come flying out of the traps too quickly and try anything risky, they play orthodox cricket shots but then they've got the players who can go big.

All of the top six can get hundreds, they're all in confident mood and they just trust the method. We felt that they were leaving it a bit late but they've done it again.

This is a good pitch but 358 is always a tough chase.

  3. New Zealand require 358 to winpublished at 12:31 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2023
    Breaking

This total did not look on for South Africa, even with about six overs to go.

Rassie van der Dussen went into turbo mode after passing 100, while further power hitting from David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram's six off one ball has set New Zealand a target that if chased, will be the highest successful run chase in World Cup history.

South Africa end their innings on 357-4.

Sorry, Jimmy. It's not your day.

Just one ball, that's all Aiden Markram needed!

Neesham's delivery is short and it is pulled over fine leg for a six to end the innings, a potentially crucial one ball faced there from Markram.

It's not been the end to the innings Jimmy Neesham or New Zealand were after.

Brilliant from Mitchell. He makes it look so easy.

South Africa have got 351 but little moments like that help New Zealand. It's just a small win for them.

Sensational bit of work right on the boundary by Daryl Mitchell!

    Miller c Mitchell b Neesham 53 (SA 351-4)

Really good work in the deep from Mitchell and that brings an end to Miller's powerful half-century.

Aiden Markram will come out to face just one ball to end this innings.

    Jimmy Neesham claims a wicket.

  9. Umpire reviewpublished at 49.5 overs

That's the end of Miller! Or is it?

He hits it down the ground and looks to be caught on the boundary by Mitchell.

The New Zealand fielder takes the catch but has to throw it up as his momentum takes him over the rope before he jumps back inside to take it cleanly.

Looks fine but the umpires send it upstairs to check.

50 for Millerpublished at 49.4 overs

    SA 351-3

That's how to bring up fifty from David Miller. Six!

Neesham's final over is proving to be an expensive one and Miller brings up fifty off just 29 balls, sending the crowd into raptures.

  11. SA 344-3published at 49.2 overs

Jimmy Neesham does bowl the final over and his second ball goes for a rather unorthodox, yet very clever shot for four.

Neesham's slower ball bouncer popped up and it was a cut shot with height cleverly played by Klaasen which just about beats the running Young to the boundary.

There will be a bit of damage to Trent Boult's figures as Heinrich Klaasen smokes him down the ground for six.

He just misses his length and you will get punished at this stage of the innings.

  13. 6 runs

    SA 339-3published at 49 overs

Heinrich Klaasen find his first boundary and it goes all the way for six off Trent Boult's final delivery.

All Boult can do is simply watch that sail over the deep cover boundary, a glorious shot from one of the players of the tournament so far.

Boult ends with figures of 1-49 off his 10 overs, with 14 of them coming off his final over.

I reckon Boult misses his yorker by two inches there, it's a low full toss and Miller is so powerful.

  15. SA 330-3published at 48.2 overs

There was not a lot wrong with that yorker from Trent Boult, but it is still disposed effortlessly by Miller for four wide of long-off.

Boult has not conceded too many boundaries today, but he will be frustrated at that one.

Trent Boult is going to finish from this end but who bowls the last over? Who is getting the dreaded look from the captain?

It looks like Jimmy Neesham has got the dreaded nod.

  17. SA 325-3published at 48 overs

Nine runs come from the other, but so does the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen.

Tim Southee's final over sees him end with figures of 2-77.

Trent Boult will bowl his final over next. He's gone for less than four an over so far.

Ooh that's violent! What a shot. That's gone flat and probably 20 rows back.

    That is all power.

  19. 6 runs

    SA 323-3published at 47.3 overs

Brutal, brutal hitting from David Miller.

Southee did not deliver that short, but Miller does not mind, absolutely pumping it over deep mid-wicket for six.

The New Zealand bowler will be wondering how that has gone as far as it has, it hardly got any height on it.

That just brushed the thigh and onto the stumps.

It was a beautiful innings from Rassie van der Dussen, it was attritional at times and then he exploded into life at the perfect time for South Africa.
