I've never out-run an England cricketer, but I have had more golden ducks than Jonny Bairstow.

Well, that's a way to end the powerplay!

After a soporific ten overs from a scoring perspective, Malan drops to a knee and slaps Hazlewood for a mighty slop sweep over square leg.

Australia were 48-2 at end of their opening ten, by the way.

Malan and Stokes take him for a single apiece.

Jos Buttler's run the Stretford event in the past. If you've ever out-paced a current or former cricketer, please let me know.

David Warner's wife Candice got him a running coach so he's relearned how to run to make himself quicker. in the field.

Ben Stokes squeezes Hazlewood through a gap at point - is this heading for the boundary?

No, David Warner has chased it down, tapping the ball back on the dive as England run three. There's life in the veteran yet.

A first four for Dawid Malan!

He strikes Starc's final ball crisply through point and to the ropes. He faced five dot balls and a wide prior to that, but now moves to seven off 16.

Plenty of time in the game, Ben.

Joe Root is really out of sync. You could see he was struggling. A really good review by Australia and Marnus is right. It couldn't have hit anything else because it was far from his body and the ground. Can Ben Stokes get the job done for England here? He needs to soak up some pressure for a while.

Ben Stokes is in with a lot of weight on his shoulders - he's used to that, though.

A single off the pads gets him underway.

I was just looking at Joe Root's record in ODIs since 2022. He averages 21. That's very unlike his 'Mr Consistent', which he has been for many years. He's struggled for rhythm, not timing it perfectly and having to fight a little bit at the minute.
