Another appeal!
Australia want to take a look at a Joe Root edge behind off Mitchell Starc.
Marnus Labuschagne seems to have his team-mates convinced.

Australia have a towel for the dew, but they aren't using it at the moment. Joe Root, meanwhile, is living rather dangerously.
Hazlewood delivers four dot balls on the trot before Joe Root edges one through slip for four.
He then catches Root on the pad, but he's stepped a way down and it's possibly heading wide of the stumps. Only a half-hearted appeal.

Australia's players are wearing black armbands for grandfather of Mitchell Marsh, who died on Friday.
Marsh travelled back to Australia earlier this week.
Oooh, this time it's Starc beating Malan's bat. Not much you can do with a ball like that - it shaped beautifully.
Malan then has to dive for the crease after taking a sharp single to Adam Zampa. He was home relatively comfortably, but it's all a bit frantic.

We need a dramatic game, I haven't seen one yet.

That was totally mis-timed, Root's shot. He's misjudged it, but Starc can't believe it.
Put down at cover!
Root mis-times his shot and chips what should be an easy catch for Marcus Stoinis. He tries to take it just above the ground but it must catch the tips of his fingers - he's holding them gingerly and there's sight of blood.
England take the single - they should have been two down.
Nice little over from Josh Hazlewood, sending a delivery flying over the top of Dawid Malan's off stump and beating the batter's edge with his final delivery.

They announced Ben Stokes as one of England's two openers on the big screen at the start of the innings, causing me to look up from my keyboard with confusion.
I can confirm it was definitely Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan who walked out to the middle.

This would be a remarkable victory for Pakistan.
That didn't last long. Unfortunately, the rain is back, the covers are back on and we're in for another delay and another reduction in overs.
Pakistan are still ahead on DLS.

Dave: I'm assuming this England game will all be over before kick off at 3pm then.
Pak 199-1 (25 overs, DLS target 342)
Well, well, well.
New Zealand are really feeling the absence of Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson here. Their injuries meant that they had no choice but to field the extra spinner in Ish Sodhi, and he is being absolutely annihilated by Fakhar Zaman.
The opener has just launched three sixes in an over and the rain delay hasn't halted Pakistan's momentum at all. They are cruising.

Marais Erasmus doesn't get many wrong.
Eng 8-1
Nope.
Marais Erasmus nails it - passing above leg stump according to ball tracking. Australia lose the review, but promising for Starc - he beat Root with pace and a bit of swing.
Root takes a single into the covers to finish an eventful over. Thanks, by the way, to Timothy Abraham, who took you through to the end of the interval.

I think this is a little bit high.
Now Starc thinks he has Joe Root lbw!
Nothing from Marais Erasmus - after a player conference, they're sending it upstairs.
Joe Root arrives at the crease in a dreadful run of form - scores of 11, 2, 3 and 0 in the last four.
He gets off the mark with a two into point and then strikes a cracking four driven down the ground.

This is the problem when you have wicketkeeper-batters as captain. Jos Buttler has to pad up now. Sometimes batting first is not about the conditions but how drained you get in the field.
