  1. Pak 9-1published at 1 over

    Target 338

Babar Azam is the new batter and the skipper gets Pakistan up and running with a lovely straight drive, back past David Willey for four.

Four more, clipped through mid-wicket by Babar. Plenty going on in that first over.

It looks like wise advice from Fakhar Zaman. That was cannoning into leg stump because it was so full.

England strike in the first over! He was thinking about the review but it looked pretty good.

    Shafique lbw b Willey 0 (Pak 0-1)

Gone second ball! David Willey strikes on his England farewell appearance.

Full and swinging back into the right-handed Abdullah Shafique. The batter tries to shovel it to leg, misses and it's plumb.

He chats it over with Fakhar Zaman before walking off. Good call.

  5. Pak 0-0published at 0.1 overs

First ball blocked by Abdullah Shafique. It's almost as if Pakistan aren't even trying to get these in 40 balls.

Here we go then. Barring some of the most ill-disciplined England bowling you could possibly imagine, Pakistan's semi-final hopes are over.

However, they'll still want to go out with a win and beat New Zealand when chasing 401 early in the tournament - albeit on DLS in a rain-shortened game.

David Willey will open the bowling for England, Abdullah Shafique is on strike for Pakistan.

    Mist at Eden Gardens

The mist descended throughout that innings. The air pollution is very high today which is obviously a big factor.

You can't really see the floodlight pylons, just the big bright lights high above.

Our scorer Phil Long, who arrived here by a cross-country train, says there was mist out in the countryside so it's likely to be a bit of weather too.

    Thanks, Stephan.

A strong showing from England with the bat. More like what we expected from them throughout the tournament.

That's a good effort from England. If they bat like that, they should have a good chance at this World Cup.

England batter Jonny Bairstow: "You saw early on there was a bit in it for the bowlers and a bit of variable bounce. I think that was down to the ball hitting some sparse green parts on the pitches. They bowled well at the start.

"I assessed the pitch and gave myself a chance. We know the ball is going to do a bit early on and then it is giving yourself a chance to capitalise.

"It is a really good strong performance to finish the competition. Everyone contributed, whether that be up front of coming in at the end. It is a good way to the end the World Cup as a batting unit."

Not far away! Mohammad Wasim looks for another in-swinger and gets the length right, but the line wrong. Through the legs of Adil Rashid and England pinch a bye. Pakistan will need 338 to win.

Gone first ball. Absolute perfect yorker and a tail ender having a go at that is not going to be able to do much. Now if he bowls that in the same place to Adil Rashid we might have a hat-trick! He's duty bound to have a go at this.
