According to Cricviz's captaincy grid Gudakesh Motie is much more of threat bowling to Zak Crawley than Ben Duckett, as demonstrated by those back-to-back boundaries.

Ben Duckett’s reverse sweeps are causing a headache for Shai Hope here. In the second power play he can only have four men on the boundary. If he plugs the reverse sweep, it automatically opens up another area for Duckett.

Motie is back from the other end, which is a risky move to Ben Duckett, who is an incredible player of spin.

And so it is proven, with back-to-back reverse sweeps nailed to the boundary. That completely eases the pressure that the West Indies were just starting to build after the two quick wickets.

I have been reliably informed that is a locust, not a cricket. But that kinda ruins the pun so we will let it slide.

    Interesting move.

Gudakesh Motie is taken out of the attack, having just taken a wicket, and replaced by Oshane Thomas.

It pays off though, just the single from it and he sinks to his knees from the final ball of the over as Zak Crawley leaves a risky one, the ball nipping back and just missing off stump.

This is a nice little fightback from the West Indies after England's run-laden start.

Two runs and two wickets from the final two overs of the powerplay marks a solid recovery from the West Indies.

Test openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley are tasked with leading England's rebuild.

Decent ball in the channel to get Will Jacks, but he won’t be happy with his indeterminate prod. Feet went nowhere.

One brings two! Alzarri Joseph gets Will Jacks with an absolute beauty.

Pace, bounce and a little nibble outside the off stump from Jacks, drawing a thin edge through to the keeper. A muted celebration from Joseph, who has had a tough start.

Good resilience from the West Indies though, who were flagging a little but have fought back to remove both openers in successive overs.

An ugly dismissal for Salt, but further signs that this pitch is playing a little awkwardly. The ball stuck in the surface forcing Salt to mistime his cut shot.

  11. Eng 77-1published at 9 overs

A successful over, just a single and the wicket from it.

There is definitely some turn and bounce for the spinner, which will excite Rehan Ahmed in England's dressing room.

Still, Phil Salt executed his job perfectly. He was furious to get out, swishing his bat in frustration, but that was the intent England really needed.

    Salt c Carty b Motie 45 (Eng 77-1)

Phil Salt's fun comes to an end.

He attempts one big shot too many, flaying Gudakesh Motie straight to the fielder at cover for a simple catch.

West Indies are delighted. They really, really needed that. Zak Crawley comes in at three looking to keep England's momentum going.

With England absolutely flying a reminder that the highest ODI score at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is 322-6 by Australia in 2007.

England's highest score on this ground is 303-6 in 2014.

  14. 76-0published at 8 overs

Oh, that's infuriating. Alzarri Joseph, already frustrated from this England onslaught, concedes four more when he really shouldn't have, as Gudakesh Motie misfields at deep third.

That's not good enough. The batters are allowed to score boundaries but as a fielding unit, you've got to support your bowlers when they're having a tough time.

Tidy enough over from Motie. Signs of a little turn, but it’s still gone for 11 runs.

  17. Eng 70-0published at 7 overs

And here's what CricViz were calling for. Leg-spinner Gudakesh Motie is introduced early, quite an intimidating prospect having seen the ball flying all around the ground.

He starts well, conceding just singles, before firing one down the leg side and through the keeper's legs for four.

    West Indies' woes continue.

That last boundary through point from Phil Salt was a staggeringly good shot. Immaculate timing.

Worryingly for Shai Hope, according to Cricviz's captaincy grid, Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph is the best combination of bowlers to bowl to Phil Salt and Will Jacks.

The next best option is slow left-armer Gudakesh Motie.

    Carnage, absolute carnage.

Phil Salt skips down the pitch to Romario Shepherd - patronisingly treating him like a spinner - and launches the ball over mid-wicket for yet another six.

Two more fours come from the over, both placed through the covers, and Salt moves to 42 from just 22 balls.

It's remarkable how different this approach is to what we saw from England last month. We've gone back to 2019!
