Heather Knight took her time, probably put a few players under the pump - Amy Jones and Bess Heath probably felt the pressure of Heather not scoring quickly.

She was fantastic today, and although she took her time at the start of her innings, she timed her acceleration perfectly and might have given England a competitive total.

Former England batter on TNT Sport

Winning the toss and batting first was probably the right way to go as it's a used pitch, it's getting slower and lower. As a batter you have to be really decisive, either hit down the ground or go cross bat. It's a lack of application to the situation and the conditions.

Thanks Tom, and thanks Heather Knight. She really dug England out of a hole.

If India bat anything like they did yesterday then this may well be a defendable total. Let's just see...

So after India were bowled out for 80 on Saturday it is England's turn to be dismissed for a below-par score, though it would have been a lot worse but for a fine half-century by Heather Knight.

Can India chase it down and deny England a clean sweep? Here is Mike Peter to guide you through the chase.

India spinner Shreyanka Patil: "Three wickets is not a joke for me, I've been working very hard for this and I am very happy. After playing two matches, I figured bowling a little slower on this wicket worked and I got the result I wanted. We said let's enjoy this game and do what we have to do."

    Gaur c Sharma b Kaur 0 (Eng 126)

Mahika Gaur understandably goes for a big swing off her first and only ball but can only find Deepti Sharma at point.

England all out for 126, meaning India need 127 to win.

No.11 Mahika Gaur comes out for the final ball of the innings.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.5 overs

    Knight c sub (Minnu) b Amanjot 52 (Eng 126-9)

    50 and out!

This is very good bowling from Amanjot Kaur as she bowls slower and wider, forcing Heather Knight to reach for the ball and fail to get enough power, sending it into the grateful hands of the fielder at long-on

  9. 50 runs

50 for Heather Knightpublished at 19.3 overs

Heather Knight brings up the half-century with a six!

What a captain's knock this is. Knight again charges Amanjot Kaur and dispatches the ball over long-on.

    Eng 120-8published at 19.2 overs

Charlie Dean wisely pushes a single off the first ball to give Heather Knight the strike and the skipper responds with brilliant shot that sends the ball flying over the rope.

    Knight moves to 46.

  11. Eng 113-8published at 19 overs

Heather Knight goes for a similar shot but Jemimah Rodrigues races round and makes a brilliant diving stop on the rope.

Final over coming up. Where can England get to?

  12. Eng 109-8published at 18.3 overs

Heather Knight shows all her class and experience again as she sweeps powerfully into a gap in the leg-side for a one-bounce four.

Knight moves to 37 from 36 balls.

  13. Eng 104-8published at 18 overs

Lovely shot from Heather Knight as she uses the pace of a leg-side Renuka Singh delivery and helps it on its way to the rope.

This is turning into a very useful partnership for England.

  14. Eng 96-8published at 17.2 overs

India bring back Renuka Singh to try and finish things off, but this is a very good shot from Charlie Dean, who charges the India seamer and smacks the ball cross-batted though mid-wicket for four.

Whenever England rest Nat Sciver-Brunt (Sri Lanka losses in September, say), they look a totally different team.

She’s not going anywhere, but if there was a long-term injury you do wonder how they’d cope.

Harmanpreet Kaur is still getting some treatment as England nudge five singles off Shreyanka Patil, who ends with very impressive figures of 3-19

  17. Eng 85-8published at 16 overs

Harmanpreet Kaur looks in a bit of pain as she is helped off the field for a bit more treatment outside the rope.

Smriti Mandhana takes on temporary captaincy duties.

    Knight 27, Dean 1

A defiant shot from Heather Knight as she smacks Saika Ishaque back over her head for four. That's England's first boundary since the 10th over.

There's then a bit of an injury concern for Harmanpreet Kaur. It looks a complete freak as her left foot gets stuck in the turf.

The physio comes out to take a look. Let's hope it is not too serious.

  19. Eng 76-8published at 15 overs

India are crowding the bat now as they look to finish this innings off.

The healthy crowd inside the Wankhede Stadium are enjoying themselves.

    Pitching in line....but missing!

    Charlie Dean survives.
