  1. Stokes 'not saying no' to bowling in seriespublished at 12:14 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February

More from Ben Stokes, speaking on TNT: "Every game has been filled with multiple unbelievable things to witness as a supporter. Jaiswal, that double hundred, was phenomenal to watch. Ben Duckett played an incredible knock. We are very disappointed to be on the wrong side of the result but one thing we are very good at as a team is to leave everything behind us - make sure we are focussing on what we have ahead. Games can be won and lost in the head. We will be leaving the disappointment and going on to the next one."

On his own prospects of bowling in the series following injury: "I feel really good. I had my first bowl at 100%. As a person I like to jump the gun a little bit too much. I have said I have a whole body to get used to bowling. I am not saying no but I am not saying yes either."

We lost, we were hammered. We'll all still get up tomorrow (hopefully), there will be another game of cricket, we will win again and we will lose again. Let's not over react. According to all the commentators and writers "you don't win in India" so why are they surprised? I have absolutely loved watching England under Ben Stokes, getting up at 4am, my Son waking me really keen to watch. Do people really think they don't care or think they were great, I'll leave the post match dissection to Stokes and Baz. They know what they are doing.

More from captain Ben Stokes on England's slide from a strong position at the start of day three: "You look at situation found ourselves in on day three, the way I felt the day needed to go to give ourselves chance of winning was to press the button after the lunch break.

"Me, personally, I sensed it as an opportunity to have one of my days out. I have got unbelievable belief in myself just like I have belief in everyone in there that they can turn the game in our favour. We wanted to be bowling at the back end of day three. It came earlier than we wanted to. It was unfortunate."

In response to Joe from Liverpool (11:44am), that perspective only works under the assumption England were going to get "hammered" regardless of their approach. The point being that a bit of application might have produced a better result, likewise that they lost spectacularly badly without "entertaining" anyone. So Bazball has fallen on its sword twice.

  5. 'I knew when Rohit won the toss this is all we wanted'published at 12:00 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on the first innings, where he came in at 33-3: "I was looking to build a partnership with Rohit. We were in difficult situation. My job was to play a big role and back my strengths, play my shots and play the ball.

"On this pitch if you bat first it always good to bat on. I knew when Rohit won the toss this is all we wanted - bat first and bowl second."

Bazball is the reason we lost by 434. All this chat about entertaining when losing sums up Bazballers. There is more to cricket then just slogging the ball.

  7. 'It's a delight to watch'published at 11:57 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February

India captain Rohit Sharma, speaking on TNT Sports: "When you play Test cricket, it's not played over two days or three days. We know the importance of staying in the game for five days. They put us under pressure, we've got class in our squad when it comes to bowling. The message was to stay calm, it's easy to drift away from what you want to do. I'm proud of how we came back, and when that happens it's a delight to watch.

"It was a good toss to win, we know how important in India it is to win and get runs on the board. After that onslaught from the England batters, the bowlers showed a lot of character. We knew the job was half done, in the second innings we wanted to come out and bat and get the lead that we wanted."

On Jadeja moving up to bat at five: "For this game we thought Jadeja has so much experience, he's scored a lot of runs of late. We always wanted that left-right batting, we know the quality Sarfaraz brings and we wanted to give him time before he comes into bat - we saw what he did batting. We don't have any long term plan with the batting order, we just go with the flow and also depending on the bowling composition of the opposition."

  8. 'Sometimes gameplans don't work out and that is sport'published at 11:55 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February

England captain Ben Stokes, speaking on TNT Sports: "Ben Duckett played an unbelievable innings and that was the tone we wanted to set throughout the whole innings. For us it is about identifying that opportunity to really push on and get as close as we could to India's total. I actually said I wanted to be bowling yesterday although it came earlier than we wanted, just because of how we felt the wicket was going. We wanted to push the game on as much as we could. Sometimes gameplans don't work out and that is sport sometimes."

On the criticism of England's style of play: "Everyone has got a perception and opinion. The people in the dressing room are the opinions that really matter to us. Sometimes things don't work out how we want them to."

On what's next: "2-1 down and two games left. We have a great opportunity for 3-2.

"We leave this game behind us and know we have to win the next two games to win the series."

Under the old regime we were getting hammered as well. So to all the naysayers I ask this. Would you rather lose Baz Balling or lose meekly without trying to entertain? I know which I'd prefer.

It unravelled very quickly indeed. It was extraordinary. This will reawaken all of the debate about so-called Bazball. It is great when it works but there seems an inability to go back to a more traditional way of playing.

England threw a chance away on the third day. I hope there is honesty in the dressing room.

I know England’s mantra is all smiles and no worries and do what you want, but I hope they properly analyse this and pay attention to some of the criticism, as it’s warranted.

As Test match defeats go that's got to be up there with the worst. We've been thrilled over the last couple of years with some of the cricket we've witnessed from England, but that doesn't mean the same style of play has to be adopted whatever the match situation. Joe Root and Johnny Bairstow perhaps need taking out of the firing line for a while.

Well, I'm certainly interested to hear from the England camp. Will they stick to the party line, or will they acknowledge the holes that have rapidly opened up in their approach?

    We'll hear from them shortly.

  16. What you've missedpublished at 11:27 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February

Just woken up from your Sunday lie-in? Too late, England are done and dusted.

Resuming on day four on 196-2, the hosts added 118 runs in the morning session, with Shubman Gill reaching 91 before being run out in a mix-up with Kuldeep Yadav.

Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the crease after retiring hurt yesterday and picked up where he left off.

Starting on 104, he smashed his way to an unbeaten double century, matching the world record for sixes in a Test innings with 12.

He put on 172 with debutant Sarfaraz Khan, who made 68 from 72 balls, before India finally declared on 430 just before tea.

Set an almighty 557 to win, England collapsed under the pressure of their target. Wickets fell regularly, with none of England's top six making more than 15.

Mark Wood, batting at number 10, scored 33 - double that of the next highest run scorer - but fell to Ravindra Jadeja to end the match.

A nice batting cameo from Mark Wood. However at 2-1 down in the series (which barring the greatest of escapes), with 2 to play, England have a the mountain to climb. The question is To Bazball or NOT To Bazball in matches 4 and 5?

From 33-3 on the first morning, India go on to win by 434 runs with a day to spare.

Excluding innings defeats, it's the biggest margin of victory in India's history, and the eighth highest in history.

Fitting finish for India. Jadeja gets his fifth wicket caught by Jaiswal - the two stars of the game for the home team.

England were completely blown away. It’s the first real hammering for this England side.
