  • Final Test in Dharamsala on 7 March

  1. dropped catch

    Ind 133-5published at 43.1 overs

Close. Oh so close as Dhruv Jurel slices a drive in the air. The fielder cannot make the ground in time.

Ben Stokes just stands there smiling and chewing on his gum like a Bond villain.

  2. Ind 133-5published at 43 overs

    Need 59 runs to win

Shoaib Bashir is switching between over and round the wicket. Whichever way Shubman Gill, still looking cool in his cap, seems confident.

Sorry guys, but we're still 50 runs short here. Gill, Jurel and Ashwin have enough quality to see this home.

WinzViz still has this comfortably as India's but I'm not sure I'm in agreement as Tom Hartley rags one past the edge of Dhruv Jurel.

John Petrie: On the morning commuter train to London. I'm definitely not the only one watching this given the collective shout of "Yes" when Sarfaraz fell. Next wicket huge.

Pete Hotchkiss: I get to the office just as Bashir is on a hat-trick. England can't, can they? Surely not...

David Fisher: My goodness. This England team. They don't do dull do they? Come on boys.

2am on the US East Coast, got a work meeting at 7:30am. WHAT DO I DO?!

  8. Ind 130-5published at 41 overs

    Need 62 runs to win

Dhruv Jurel, to his credit, has started well. He hasn't done anything silly but he has come out and struck the ball positively into the deep.

Shoaib Bashir celebrates a wicket v IndiaImage source, Getty Images

Just woken up? You've timed it well.

    England are fighting back.

Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal moved the score on to 84-0 early on at which point India were cruising towards their target of 192.

But Jaiswal was caught excellently off Joe Root by James Anderson to give England their breakthrough, Tom Hartley had Rohit Sharma caught behind for 55 and Rajat Patidar was taken at short leg off Shoaib Bashir for a duck.

India lost three wickets for 16 runs and England's celebrations showed they really believed - but Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja took it to lunch with 74 still needed.

But shortly after the break, Bashir struck twice in two balls to have Jadeja caught at mid-wicket and Sarfaraz Khan caught at short leg. England need five wickets, India 65 runs.

This is far too much for a Monday morning!

  11. Ind 126-5published at 40 overs

    Need 66 runs to win

Oh it's tense. So, so tense. Dhruv Jurel and Shubman Gill get caught debating whether to run a single mid-pitch. Zak Crawley cannot collect cleanly. If he had the run-out was on.

Five runs come from Tom Hartley's over - a better one for India.

70 runs from here seems like a mountain to climb. It feels like Gill or bust for India.

    Edged... wide of slip.

    Two more to India's total.

  14. Ind 121-5published at 39 overs

    Need 71 runs to wun

Ben Foakes is adding to the drama by gasping and groaning after everything.

This is some effort from a 20-year-old in Bashir who only made his first-class debut last year.

At this rate, everyone in the house will have to just have to accept being late. Kids for school, dog for walk, me for work. Children may have to have last night's supper for breakfast..

England appeal but not this time. There was inside edge onto pad but no-one there to catch it.

Currently following from somewhere over Mongolia 37000ft in the air on my way back to the UK after 9 months abroad. Will I regret my decision to not comeback via Dharamsala for the 5th Test? Thank you to the airline for WiFi!
