  1. Eng 193-8published at 54 overs

Three singles from Ravichandran Ashwin's latest over.

It's sunny in Dharamsala at the moment by the way. The forecast did suggest we might get some rain and possibly sleet today, but no sign of it at the moment.

  3. dropped catch

Bashir dropped on 4published at 53 overs

    Eng 190-8

It's a very tough chance but we'll class it as one.

Shoaib Bashir looks to turn Ravindra Jadeja into the leg side and it hits Sarfaraz Khan, who is at short leg, on the wrist.

It would have been an incredible take.

  4. Eng 189-8published at 52 overs

    Foakes 4, Bashir 4

Shoaib Bashir is off the mark with a slog-sweep into the mid-wicket boundary.

The TV coverage is just showing the averages in this series from the England batters. Zak Crawley is the only one above 40. Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope are then the only two in the 30s.

Jonny Bairstow at 22 and Ben Stokes at 21 goes a long way to explaining England's struggles.

    Former England spinner

India's spinners have spun a web. That's the great thing about it, that's why I loved doing it.

Once you get batsmen not quite sure where it's going or what it's doing, they start playing down the wrong line and it's smoke and mirrors.

England will be disappointed though because they had another fantastic start.

  6. dropped catch

Bashir dropped on 0published at 51 overs

    Eng 184-4

The England dressing room looks pretty glum at the moment. Ben Stokes and Paul Collingwood are staring into the distance.

Zak Crawley and Brendon McCullum are in conversation before the England head coach starts playing the drums on his knees.

Back on the pitch, Ravindra Jadeja finds the outside edge of Shoaib Bashir's bat but it's a pretty healthy deflection and Dhruv Jurel can't move his hands quickly enough to collect cleanly.

    Good luck, lad.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 49.4 overs

    Wood c Rohit b Ashwin 0 (Eng 183-8)

England were 175-3. They are now 183-8 six overs later.

Ravichandran Ashwin is just too good for Mark Wood and he edges a simple catch to Rohit Sharma at slip.

This has unfolded very, very quickly.

This is just crazy batting. There is a fine line between fearless and reckless.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 49.2 overs

    Hartley c Padikkal b Ashwin 6 (Eng 183-7)

    Holed out.

Tom Hartley has played the slog sweep to good effect in this series but he gets this one wrong.

There's a little bit of bounce for Ashwin and Hartley is reaching for it a tad and that means he can't get all of it.

Debutant Devdutt Padikkal misjudges it slightly at long-on but recovers and takes a good catch and shows good awareness to stay within the ropes.

A first wicket for Ashwin in his 100th Test.

  13. Eng 183-6published at 49 overs

Ben Foakes blocks out a maiden from Ravindra Jadeja.

It might just be me, or the way that Foakes plays, but it felt like a couple of them were keeping a tad low.

Kuldeep Yadav has actually been taken out of the attack. He has got through 15 overs for his 5-72 so he was probably due a rest.

There's no real let-off for England, though. Just the 500-wicket Ravichandran Ashwin on in his place.

  17. Eng 181-6published at 47 overs

What do Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley do here? Do they look to build or do they attack?

Hartley's natural game is to attack and, to be honest, the way Kuldeep Yadav is bowling it might only be a matter of time before you get a ball with your name on it.

It's the quality of Kuldeep in general, and the importance of wrist spinners on good batting pitches.

He likes this venue too - he bowled beautifully the last time he played here against Australia.

It's been the story of the series so far.

England get a good start, Duckett and Crawley lay the platform and then India's spinners run riot through the middle.

  20. Eng 179-6published at 46 overs

You know I said I wouldn't be surprised if England were bowling by close? Could they be bowling in this session? There's half an hour until tea.

Tom Hartley gets off the mark with a slap down the ground for four.
