Five wickets for Kuldeep, with a bit of wizardry.

It is very difficult to play spin when you don't know which way it's going and he is all over England at the moment.

They are not picking him from the hand, or reading it off the pitch and it's difficult to play attacking shots against it.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 45.4 overs

    Stokes lbw b Kuldeep 0 (Eng 175-6)

    Crashing into middle stump.

England have lost three wickets for no runs.

They've burned all three reviews appealing them too.

    Sigh.

Clear gap between bat and ball.

It's all down to ball tracking.

  4. England reviewpublished at 08:06 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

Kuldeep Yadav has Ben Stokes! Trapped lbw for the five-wicket haul.

Stokes looks surprised and even replays the shot before speaking to Ben Foakes and opting to review.

I love watching Test cricket in India. No disrespect to the fast bowlers, I love pace and swing but with the spin, it just has the ability to change things so quickly.

You're cruising along at 100-1 and next thing you know, you're battling just to get to 250. It's so intriguing, and a game played in the mind just as much as in the pitch.

Some are turning, some going straight on. It's tricky.

We'll get back to the World Book Day get involved's now. Well, if England stop losing wickets.

A friend has just messaged to suggest "Joe Root and the order of the pointless review". Fairs.

Ben Foakes is the new batter. He and Ben Stokes are both on nought. Pressure.

    That spoils Kuldeep's chances of a 10-fer!

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 44.2 overs

    Root lbw b Jadeja 26 (Eng 175-5)

    Smashing into middle and leg.

It just looked and felt out so it was a pretty poor review in the end from Joe Root, but I think he was talked into it by Ben Stokes.

England from 64-0 and 137-2 are 175-5 and in trouble.

    This looks very out.

    There's no bat.

    Eng 175-4

I definitely wouldn't be surprised now!

Joe Root has been trapped lbw by Ravindra Jadeja.

He has a long chat with Ben Stokes and just reviews in time.

Jonny Bairstow didn't read Kuldeep at all and I'm surprised, as a wicketkeeper, that he couldn't.

Kuldeep isn't a mystery spinner, he's a normal wrist spinner and you can usually tell the difference between his googly and his stock delivery from the hand.

It will be interesting to see how Ben Stokes plays him and if he's forced to get on the front foot more.

  12. Eng 175-4published at 44 overs

Captain Ben Stokes is the new batter. He blocks out the final two deliveries of Kuldeep Yadav's over.

England need a partnership. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if England were bowling by the close, though.

Jonny has crammed a lot into 18 balls there. Two sixes, going past 6,000 Test runs, dropped and out.

Jonny Bairstow was only going to play one way against the spinners.

A lot of the England batsmen are struggling to read Kuldeep. It's a bit of a lottery against him and he's got them on toast.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 43.4 overs

    Bairstow c Jurel b Kuldeep 29 (Eng 175-4)

    Clear spike.

It's a strange review from Jonny Bairstow in the end. He signalled to Joe Root that he hit the ground but there is a pretty healthy spike.

India knew and they were up in celebration straight.

It's another start and out for Bairstow. He's still got a high-score of 38 in the series.

  16. Postpublished at 07:54 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

The ball is close to the bat.

Has Jonny Bairstow hit the ground instead?

  17. England reviewpublished at 07:53 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

Has Jonny Bairstow been caught behind?

Joel Wilson and India think so.

    Bairstow reviews immediately.

  18. 6 runs

    Eng 173-3published at 43.2 overs

Jonny Bairstow is here for a good time.

He gets down on one knee and slog sweeps over wide long-on for six more.

He passes 6,000 Test runs with that boundary.

  19. Eng 167-3published at 43 overs

Peter storms into an early lead. Simple, but superb.

A classic late cut from Joe Root brings him four more. He's on 26 off 54 balls. He's happy to just rotate and build and let Jonny Bairstow be the aggressor.
